Alarm.com thermostat losing display

We have two of the Alarm.com thermostats connected to our system and one of them continually loses the display, even though they both have common wires in addition to the battery power source. Can anyone advise why this might be happening?

I’m not showing anything on our end that would suggest there is an issue. To confirm, what is the name of the TSTAT in Alarm.com?

Is display coming back on its own, or do you need to interact with it in a specific way to get the display to appear?

Has the TSTAT been removed to replace batteries or wiring adjusted for any reason?

Upstairs Thermostat is the name

No it never comes back. I have to hit the center button to bring it back

I put new batteries in it yesterday, but before that no movement

And to be clear this has been going on for months

And to be clear this has been going on for months

That would have been my next question.

As a test, through Alarm.com navigate to the TSTAT card and access Advanced Configuration and select the thermostat from the drop down. Check the Display On section, should be enabled at this time, set it to Disabled. Wait 5 minutes then set it to Enabled. Does the TSTAT display turn on and stay on?

Let me try that now

The display does not come on when I enable it as you describe

I’m assuming this worked before but to double-check what is the thermostats FW Version? Needs to be 1.50+ in order to be always on.

Assuming its at or higher than 1.50 the next thing would be to remove the TSTAT from the back plate, remove the batteries and leave it off for 2+ minutes. You will want to verify that the C-Wire is firmly attached. You will want to turn off power to the TSTAT before checking C-Wire connection.

  • If possible, check C-Wire for voltage with a multimeter.

If C-Wire is firmly attached and has voltage, the next step would be to:

  1. Remove the TSTAT from the Z-Wave Network
  2. Factory Reset the TSTAT
  3. Add the TSTAT back to the Z-Wave Network.
  4. Reprogram TSTAT function through Alarm.com (including Display On).
  5. Test for resolution.

Even though you are not working with programming the panels security functions. when troubleshooting, you may want to place your 24/7 professional monitoring account on Test Mode during troubleshooting to avoid any false dispatches.

You can do this by calling monitoring operators directly at 855-348-0367 or from the Test My System tab in the System Manager section of your Surety account.

OK, firmware is version 2.0.

However this is not an ADCT2000, it is an ADCT10ZC

That’s an ADC T2000, the HW listed on the back will differ from the SKU. I have an older T2000 for testing and its HW is ADC-T10-Z-B.

The troubleshooting steps would still apply.

OK, great. Thanks for confirming
