Slow/Delayed Response

Longtime ADC user… my system was working great up until a few weeks ago when we experienced a short power outage. Since then, a lot of our Z-wave devices (switches, lights, thermostat, etc.) have been giving me various off-line errors intermittently. We often use voice commands on an Amazon Echo Spot around the house to control various lights and instead of a 1-2 second response time, it can be as long as a 45-60 second response time for a light to turn on. We experience the same delays using the ADC app on our phones.

Thinking this could be a WiFi issue, I’ve stood in front of the panel and given various devices on/off commands from the panel (IQ2). I still notice a significant delay, which leads me to believe the panel seems to be the issue and not my WiFi connection.

Is there a reset I could try on the panel that might help? I’ve already sent a remote restart command to the panel… it restarted but didn’t seem to help. Given that my panel is 4 1/2 years old, I’m afraid I may just need to get a new one (which, of course, is a massive time investment unlearning and learning dozens of Z-wave devices).

Suggestions? Thanks!

If you haven’t already, I would suggest trying to rediscover the zwave network.
[settings, advanced settings, system tests, zwave tests, rediscover network]

It will take a while - give it a good 15-20 minutes to complete and then settle out and see what happens. Sometimes after this completes commands are still sluggish, if so just give it some more time. (if you have a lot of devices it can take a while. Mine is about 20-30 mins)

If after that you still have devices giving offline errors, you may need to activate them to clear the error (like open the garage door or turn the light on/off manually, etc).

Additionally, are there any zwave devices that are permanently offline (like an unused one that hasn’t been removed from the system??). If so, I’d clear/remove that device or get it back online. (do this before the network rediscovery)

I’ve had similar happen for various reasons. Good Luck!

I’ve sent some commands to resync Z-Wave devices which should address some slowness issues. Given the size of the list, please give it about 20 minutes for these commands to take effect.

Additionally, I am showing a few Z-Wave devices in malfunction. This means those devices aren’t communicating with the panel. If these devices are not longer in use, you will want to delete them from programming. If they are in use, you will want to address the malfunction. Steps on how to do so can be found here:

Once all device issues are resolved, then run a Z-Wave Network Rediscovery. This will help map out communication pathways.

Lastly, your firmware is a bit out of date. Updating can help with Z-Wave network efficiency as well as provide a variety of other benefits. Steps on how to do so can be found here:

Thanks all… the malfunctioned devices will be easy fixes. Two are lights that my son keeps manually turning off (no matter how many times I tell him to use Z-wave) and two are devices I need to replace. I didn’t even think about a firmware update, but will work on that in the coming days. If I run into any more issues, I’ll be sure to reach back out. Thanks!
