New IQ 5 and Software v4.6

Did anyone else catch the Qolsys ISC West video on youtube? Some very interesting upgrades heading our way in v4.6, new PowerG+ devices, and of course a look at the next iteration of the IQ Panel - the IQ 5 - targeted for later this year.

Pretty interesting as it does solve some challenges and offers cool features. Especially Camera Analytics / person detection popups right on the panel (with a thumbnail of the person!).

And selfishly for me, I’m looking forward to v4.6 to get over the air Z-wave updates and dark mode on my IQ Remote-PG!

We’re definitely looking forward to both the 4.6 update and the new IQ Panel 5.

You can subscribe to the below thread to be notified when 4.6 is available and catch up on the patch notes.

Version 4.6.1 for IQ4, IQ4 Hub and IQ4 NS has been released.

Yes, we are currently testing internally. Official announcement and upgrade instructions will be posted soon.

As a caveat, one of our reps has noticed a delay in some communication between the IQ Panel 4 and IQ PowerG Remote specifically when paired via PowerG. On wifi it behaves normally.

I have also noticed a slight delay with the Remote PG when setup with PowerG and Wi-Fi. I have also noticed that the Silent Disarm button is missing on the Remote PG, but is present on the IQ4 Panel and the IQ Remote.

FYI - I have experienced an annoying delay with IQ 4 and IQ PowerG remote even on the v4.5.2 software when connecting via PowerG. I tried twice and reverted to wifi because of it. (It is distracting because the voices are out of sync and echo throughout the house.)

I have not yet upgraded my primary panel to v4.6.1 but I plan to shortly. Still doing some tests on the bench with my test panel currently.

A short delay in signaling when using PowerG is normal; however, what I am seeing is a significant delay in communicating between the main panel and the IQ Remote PowerG.

Here are my observations so far after updating to 4.6.1:

  1. Disarming or arming the system from the IQ Remote takes a significant amount of time, typically resulting in a No Response Received message being shown.
  2. Not all information is received at the same time by the IQ Remote PowerG. For example, a zone being bypassed during arming may be indicated after the IQ Remote has indicated that the system was armed.
  3. If the system is armed with a zoned bypassed, then disarmed shortly after, the IQ Remote may process the bypassed zone signal up to 2 minutes after disarming, although it rarely takes that long.
  4. Arming the system with a zone bypass may result in the IQ Remote temporarily showing as armed with a green LED or disarmed with a red LED, depending on when the zone bypass signal reaches the IQ Remote PowerG and when the system is disarmed.
  5. The countdown timer when disarming the system may not sync to the IQ Remote PowerG before the countdown ends.
  6. The issues above did not occur on all IQ Remotes at the same time. One of my IQ Remotes rarely had any issues, one had issues around 50% of the time, and one almost always had issues.
  7. Silent disarming is only available on the IQ Remote when connected via Wi-Fi. When connected via PowerG, pressing the silent disarm button will still result in countdown beeps occurring on the IQ Remote PowerG

I’ve reported these issues to Qolsys and am awaiting a follow-up from them.

If you have any issues with IQ Remotes or other issues from this update, please let us know. We’re unsure whether this is an isolated incident or if these issues will become more widespread. In the meantime, you can connect the IQ Remote PowerG via Wi-Fi, which does not have the issues I’ve mentioned above.

I upgraded to V4.6.1 the other day. I am experiencing the “Needs Attention” flag at the bottom right corner. It’s around the panel camera. This happened to another user here upgrading from another version as well. Is there a resolution to this? I have rebooted the panel and have toggled the camera on/off to no avail. Thanks in advance.

Where are you seeing the camera error? Does the camera work?

If you run a system test > Panel test, does the error go away?

Hi Tyler,

The error is persistent even after running a system test. Error says “Panel Camera not working”. Doesn’t appear to post any pictures when disarming the system. Never saw this issue until the recent update but did see that another user here had the same issue with prior release. I have a IQ Panel 4.

Hi tlp,
I think I was that other user. In my case the panel camera error would come up but the camera would still function in all respects. It was almost like a bogus alert. Doing “run now” on the system test screen would make it go away for a few days to a few weeks.

I just upgraded to 4.6.1 the other day so too soon to tell if it made a difference either way.

If your camera isn’t actually working I suspect it may be a different issue, as my camera always worked.

Unfortunately, “Run Now” does not remove the error. Never experienced this issue until I updated to 4.6. Completely related to the firmware update in my opinion. The main panel camera is no longer capturing photo events but my IQ Remote panel is.

Understood. I didn’t mean to say it wasn’t necessarily related to 4.6…. I only meant to say it doesn’t seem to be the same issue that I was / am having since the symptoms are different

Have you power cycled the panel, or tried any other troubleshooting to resolve?

Hey Tyler, I have power cycled the panel and manually reran the “Run Now” test. Camera works fine on the Remote IQ and images are visible on the IQ Panel 4 from the Remote IQ.

Fully power cycling and leaving the unit off for 10 minutes would be my first suggestion if that has not already been done.

Try that, if you havent already, then run a camera test. System Test > Panel Test > Camera, does it pass or fail?

If its not passing, or taking images, it may be hardware failure. I’m not seeing an active account with Surety, so I’m a bit limited in what I can see, or assist with directly. You may want to reach out to your current provider if you have one.

Hi Tyler,

Another Power Cycle from the panel was the ticket. Everything looks good and no more errors. Thanks for your assistance.

@nicholas My IQ Remote PG is missing the Silent Disarm (small button).

My IQ Panel 4 and both IQ Remotes have the Silent Disarm button when the system is armed to Stay.

Which IQ Remote is that? I show that the one labeled Kitchen IQ Remote PG is still connected via PowerG, which wouldn’t have the silent disarm button.

The Kitchen IQ Remote PG is the one that I am referring to. Is there a reason why it would not have the Silent Disarm when Armed Stay when all of the others do have the Silent Disarm feature?
