How update system for insurance discount?

My wife and I moved into our home in September, 2023. There was an alarm system present and Ive been told the keypad is either a Honeywell L5200 or 5210. IT appears this would need to be upgraded to a n IQ4 panel. What I am looking for is burglar and smoke monitoring so I can receive a certificate for the discount. I was also told my current sensors would work (likely older Honeywell 345mhz). I assume I would also have to add something for smoke detection. I have brand new alarms throughout the home so hoping there is simply a device that can monitor those for alerts like Ring has. Can anyone point me in the correct direction? Thanks!

One other questions while Im at it. I have Ring cameras on all four sides of the house and a Ring doorbell cam. Does it make sense to integrate these? If so, could I even integrate Ring products? Thanks again.

If you have existing 345Mhz sensors you could reuse them with the 345Mhz version of any of the panels we sell here.

The standard panel versions are 319.5Mhz, be sure to click the link under the panel you want to select the 345Mhz option.

If you have interconnected AC powered smoke detectors you can monitor all of them with one Firefighter audio detector:

Ring cameras are not compatible with Alarm.com. A list of cameras which can be used with our service are in the link below.

Great! So the IQ4 with 345mhz and the posted alarm detector are all I need? Ill have to figure out how to take down the current panel and install, but I have read its pretty plug and play and learns the sensors. Is that correct?

Also, which monitoring product would I need for a certificate showing break in and smoke is monitored?

You would need to program the sensors into the new panel. A guide can be found here:

The panel purchase comes with the first month of Surety Complete plan. Professional Monitoring is an option for the plan which is included by default.

Service is month to month, you can read about plan features in the link below. Any of the Alarm, Home, Protect, or Complete plans can be professionally monitored. Whether your insurance certificate shows both burglary and fire devices present is determined by the sensors you have connected to your panel, not the plan. The certificate will specify whether you have professional monitoring or are self-monitoring.

Digging a bit deeper it looks like my current panel is a hardwired Honeywell L5100 panel with four buttons. I am unable to access tools to disable since it appears a prior owner changed the access code. Is there a recommended way of removing this panel without setting off the alarm? I dont have any codes.

You would unplug it from power and disconnect the backup battery. Opening it to disconnect the battery shouldn’t set off the alarm unless it’s armed.

Thanks. I finally figured that out. Took a while to find the transformer which was plugged in behind the dryer. So, when I remove this panel, there is a wire going into it I assume is not the power cord as it goes into the wall. Will that wire attach to the new panel same as this L5100?

The panel is powered by a plug in transformer. If it is wall mounted the power cable will typically be routed in the wall and down to a basement or utility room. Sometimes installers will just pop it out into an outlet under the panel.

You can typically reuse existing wiring, but you must connect the new IQ Panel’s power supply to it, you cannot use the old panel power supply.
