Alarm.com Z-Wave Long Range (LR) Compatibility

A list of devices verified to work in Z-Wave Long Range (Z-Wave LR) mode with Surety & Alarm.com.

Two requirements for LR:

  1. Both the controller (panel/hub) and the device must be Z-Wave LR-capable.

  2. The device must be enrolled using SmartStart (scan the device’s QR code), not traditional Z-Wave mesh inclusion. A device added through normal inclusion joins the classic mesh network, not as a Long Range node, even if the hardware supports LR.

Legend

  • :white_check_mark: Official - on Alarm.com’s supported Z-Wave LR list

  • :handshake: Community tested - confirmed working in LR mode by the community; not officially supported

Only devices that operate in Z-Wave LR mode are listed. Community-tested devices aren’t on Alarm.com’s official list but use Z-Wave LR-capable (800-series) hardware, so they still enroll in LR mode. Because they aren’t officially supported, some Alarm.com features may be limited - caveats are noted where known.
