Switching from Guardian, will I need to update Alarm.com?

Switching from Guardian, will I need a new Alarm.com login ID and password? Or will my previous ID and Password work once switching to Surety?

That depends on whether or not you are able to transfer active service from your provider to us, or if you are starting fresh.

You can start service with Surety in one of two ways:

  1. Transfer an active Alarm.com account from your current service provider to us, or
  2. Sign up for a new service account

More information on transferring your account can be found here. Not all service providers support account transfers, you will want to find out from your current service provider if they will support it. If they do, follow the steps in the previous link. Transferring will allow you to keep your current Alarm.com account settings (rules, scenes, notifications, etc.).

If transfer is not possible, then signing up for service through Surety would result in a new Alarm.com account which would have its own unique username. This will require the following:

  1. An Alarm.com compatible panel with an unregistered, 4G LTE cellular module.

  2. The ability to run a cellular communication test to connect the panel to service. This typically requires the Master User Code or Installer Code.

If your panel is currently registered to an Alarm.com service provider, you will need to get it unregistered before you can sign up for service with Surety. This is typically done via the account cancellation process, but you may need to reach out to your current provider for more information.

You can check to see if your panel is unregistered by entering your panel’s 15-digit IMEI number into this tool here. Not sure how to find the 15-digit IMEI number? See here!
