Alarm.com has chosen to phase out Video Motion Detection, and instead focus on Video Analytics. They are removing access to legacy Video Motion Detection (VMD)-triggered recording for newly created accounts in February 2023.
This means new Alarm.com accounts will no longer support the creation of VMD recording rules or uploading VMD clips.
This change only impacts new customers—existing users that activated service prior to February 2023 can continue to edit, delete, and recreate their VMD rules without disruption at this time. Event-triggered (e.g., alarm- or sensor-triggered) video clip recording will still be available.
Due to these changes, we have discontinued the Surety View plan as a video-only plan choice. As of 2/1/2023 it is no longer available for purchase. For video only account setup, we recommend the CAM plan instead.
