I have a qolsys IQ panel 2. I have previously been able to remote arm the system using the alarm.com app. As of a few weeks ago, I’m no longer able to remotely arm it. When I click arm, it takes about 20 seconds and then fails. The app says “radio not responding”, and when it fails to connect, it sends a message saying “your command could not be verified”. I tried rebooting the panel, both methods, and neither have fixed the issue. The panel is able to be armed manually via the touch screen, but I really need the remote function to work too. Thanks!
It looks like it hasn’t been responding since December 20th. Did anything happen then that might impact it? Like moving it’s location?
It doesn’t look like it’s communicating by Wi-Fi either. Do you have it connected to Wi-Fi? If not, please connect it to Wi-Fi.
One thing you might try is upgrading to the latest IQ Panel 2 software, 2.8.1.
As it says in the instructions, you would need to first upgrade to 2.5.3 and then you can upgrade to 2.8.1.
Nothing has changed as far as the panel location or anything. It is currently connected to our home WiFi with excellent strength, but when I go to update the software, it gives me an error code “ERROR CODE - 105”
Did your internet or Wi-Fi router change by any chance?
If you can’t update the software by Wi-Fi it is possible to update using an SD card.
There are fixes in later firmware versions that relate to communication. In 2.8.1 for example it says, “Added a critical update relating to recovery of cellular connectivity in certain cases where it could become disconnected from the network.”
Nothing has changed without WiFi. I also tried rebooting our router.
I tried to download the software patch but that link for the download (in tyhe link you provided) is a dead link, so I can’t even find the software download in order to do the SD card update.
Hmm. It seems the Qolsys dealer site is down. That’s unfortunate. Well that link is to 2.7.1 and you need to update to 2.5.3 first anyway. We’ll follow up tomorrow when we can get help from Qolsys. Sorry for the delay.
Yeah please let me know. I’m planning on cancelling my Surety subscription tomorrow if we can’t get this fixed, sick of paying for a service that simply doesn’t work.
I contacted Qolsys, the dealer site access is down but they are aware and working to resolve.
To fix the communication issue, an update to 2.7.1 or later firmware via sd card is required. You will need to know your current installer code to perform the steps.
When Qolsys confirms they have resolved the issue with the file download links I’ll follow up here and you can try 2.7.1 or 2.8.1 firmware which should resolve the current condition.
Qolsys dealer site access is resolved and the download links should work normally now.
Use 2.7.1 or 2.8.1 firmware and update your panel via SD card. That should resolve the current communication issue.
I was able to download the file and put it on a microsd card, but I can’t seem to figure out how to “mount” the sd card. When I click “mount sd card”, it goes gray for a few seconds, and then goes back to normal, but never successfully mounts. Any tips?
Just to be sure, from the instructions there are 3 files that need to be on there, and there should be nothing else at all on the SD card. Double check that.
- For 2.8.1 after you download it you should see a folder named 2.8.1 SD Upgrade with three (3) files inside: “2.8.1rc9.20231026_b9_full_upgrade.zip” “release.txt” and “signature”
- Drag just those three files to your SD card. These are the only files you’ll need, so delete any other files on the SD card
