The VC729P which is great but is not mountable on everyone’s soffit because the base is very large. In my case I wanted to install one on the trim outside my garage but it won’t fit, whereas my current Bullet Camera VC838PF fits fine.
What would be great is more form factors. I love the 838PF and imagine an 838PF with 2 way audio and maybe some red and blue strobe LEDs. This would fill the gap in the line-up.
Plus I would love to see some Alarm.com wifi floodlights too similar to what Ring has to augment the cameras. I would replace all my existing floodlights with those.
Does anyone know what we can expect from the pipeline of upcoming 2025 products?
Alarm.com did reveal some new POE cameras at ISC West. Looks like they have a new Prism series which appears to have a two way audio POE dome option. Supposedly some of these will be 8mp. Here’s an announcement post from ADC.
Optimistically they should be out this year.
There are additional new models replacing the V515, V523, V723X, and VDB770 which are expected this year.
I have seen that ADC has published the specs for two Prism cameras. Are these available already, or is there a general availability date? And will they be available for home security systems or only for commercial?
I’m not showing any information on when those will be out or whether or not they will require a commercial service plan or not. I’ve reached out internally get some confirmation and will follow up here once I have some more information.
Looks like cameras should start showing up at retail end of February and it does look like those cameras will be usable with residential service accounts. I cannot confirm features just yet, nor can I confirm pricing or availability through Surety at this time.
Tyler - it looks like there are two versions of this camera. One with Varifocal and one with fixed focal lens. Can you explain what may make more sense for me? I am mounting this to provide an overview of my driveway.
Also do you know if Surety will be selling these cameras soon?
One has a fixed field of view, the other can be physically adjusted during the installation process. Generally varifocal is going to offer more installation options, while fixed is going to usually be lower cost and less time to install. The latter only really matters at scale imo not for an end user.
Other than that, specs appear to be the same in terms of display and image sensor size so they should offer the same quality of image/recording. Take that with a grain of salt as Alarm.com does not have specs or data for either camera available on their website currently.
While they appear to be available in limited availability, I do not know when they plan to release widely. I couldn’t speak to if/when we are carrying those cameras but if we do, it’ll be up on the store front once it is available.
