Need an alarm and have an old one

Hi - I need an alarm system monitoring. My home i purchased came with the below and I guess he used to use ADT. I have no idea how to start with Surety as im not very DIY. Can I sign up with service using this, or do I rip it out and install something I buy here? Im a complete newb so any direction would be helpful Thank you

That system is a Honeywell Vista 10se, and is not compatible with Alarm.com or service through Surety.

If you wish to use Surety for service, you will need to replace the system. We recommend using a Qolsys system; however, you can also purchase an Alarm.com compatible system elsewhere and use it with Surety.

You can find the systems that we sell here on our online store. In this case, I’d recommend using an IQ Panel 4 along with a hardwire to wireless converter like the IQ Hardwire PowerG to reuse the existing wired sensors or using an IQ Pro.

More information on getting started with Surety can be found here:

Thank you. Is it difficult to swap the old panel for the new panel? I would also like to get a few cameras around the house, including a doorbell camera. Do you have recommendations on those as well? Do I need to have them wired since I have a wired system now? I would prefer not to wire them if I can but unsure how that works. Does the panel also alert you for broken glass? Thank you

Difficulty mainly depends on how comfortable you are with working on this sort of thing. We have guides that cover the installation of the hardwire conversion modules, which you can use to determine if you’d like to proceed with trying to reuse those sensors. Those guides can be found here:

There are also other replacement options to consider. Instead of reusing the old hardwired sensors, you can install new wireless sensors and use the IQ Panel 4 or IQ 4 Hub. This would bypass the need to mess with the old panel, aside from disconnecting power from it if desired.

Lastly, you could also swap your Vista 10se system for a different Vista system that is compatible with Alarm.com. Compatible Vista systems can be found here. The wiring between your current system and a newer Vista system would be very similar.

Certainly! If you currently have a normal wired doorbell, I recommend the ADC-VDB750. If you do not have doorbell wiring already, the ADC-VDB780B is battery-powered, and we ship it with the Alarm.com Smart Chime, which is plugged into an indoor outlet.

We do have more cameras, which can be found here. Depending on the model, cameras would need to be plugged into an outlet, have Power-over-Ethernet run to them, or have a hardwired power connection.

The IQ Panel 4 features integrated microphones that can be used as a glass break sensor. You can also install dedicated glass break sensors, which would also trigger an alarm when activated.
