Troubleshooting - Remote commands are not opening or closing the garage door attached to the Linear Z-Wave Garage Controller
There are multiple reasons why the Linear GD00Z might not be able to open or close the garage door using remote commands. As a general rule, the GD00Z device beeps/flashes any time it is attempting to open or close the garage door.
If it does not beep and flash, this could indicate Z-Wave communication issues or some other issue with the device. Follow the steps below to troubleshoot these possibilities.
Important : Between each of these steps, send a remote command to see if the previous step resolved the issue. A remote command would be a command sent through the Alarm.com account or via the Qolsys IQ panel (if eligible).
1. Service Plan
Verify that you have the correct service plan that incorporates Garage Door Control. Through Surety that would be the:
- Surety Home plan
- Surety Complete plan
2. Z-Wave Network Correct
Verify that Z-Wave communication to and from the Linear Z-Wave Garage Controller device is generally working. If the Linear Z-Wave Garage Controller does not flash when the remote command is sent, then there is likely a Z-Wave communication issue.
- Steps on how to properly setup a Z-Wave network can be found here.
3. Garage Status Update
Verify whether the garage door status changes on the Alarm.com Website and app after an attempt to open and close the garage door. This can be through remote command or by opening/closing the garage door via the wall button.
- If failling, Verify that the included tilt sensor is attached to the garage door.
- Attempt a re-sync of the tilt sensor with the Linear Z-Wave Garage Controller.
- Press and hold the link button on the Linear Z-Wave Garage Controller for 7-8 seconds until a short beep is heard.
- Open/close the garage door opener locally (with remote/wall button) so that the sensor moves. If it re-syncs, you should hear an additional beep.
- Delete, factory reset, and re-add the device if still failling.
4. Correct Installation
Verify that the GD00Z device is wired into the garage door opener (i.e., the motor) properly. Refer to the manual assoicated with your specific GD00Z model.
Verify that the Garage Door Opener (motor) is compatible with the GD00Z.
- LiftMaster, Chamberlain, Craftsman and related brands of garage door openers with a round yellow learn button and/or a MyQ/Assurelink logo do not work with the GD00Z.
5. Delete, factory reset, and re-add the device.
- Delete the device from the alarm panel
- A factory reset clears the network information and can be performed by quickly pressing the Z-Wave Link button on the Linear Z-Wave Garage Controller five times in a row. There is a short beep, several double red flashes, and finally a long beep to indicate successful reset.
- Re-add the device.
