Alarm.com Multi-Channel Z-Wave Lights & Switches Now Officially Supported

Great news! Alarm.com has officially released support for multi-channel Z-Wave lighting devices.

Some of you may already be familiar with this — Surety customers have had access to multi-channel Z-Wave switches for a while now through our beta testing program. That beta period is over, and the feature is now fully released and supported by Alarm.com.

What are multi-channel Z-Wave lights?

A multi-channel Z-Wave switch is a single device that can control two or more lighting loads. Instead of installing a separate smart switch for each light circuit, one device handles multiple loads. Each load still shows up individually in the Alarm.com app and website, so from your perspective nothing changes — you control each light separately just like any other smart light.

The practical benefit is simpler installations with fewer devices, which can also mean lower hardware costs if you’re looking to add smart lighting control to multiple circuits.

Along with this release, Alarm.com has also added visibility controls for multi-channel devices. This means Surety can manage which channels appear in your app and on the Alarm.com website — useful for hiding unused channels or simplifying the interface if you’re only using a multi-channel device for a single load.

If you participated in the beta, thank you for helping test this out. If you have any questions about multi-channel Z-Wave devices or compatible hardware, feel free to ask below.
