So I can control my garage doors through the alarm.com app on my phone, and through the IQ4 main and remote panel, but not through the CarPlay app? Such a fail. I’m so tired of corporate politics getting in the way of doing what is right for the consumers.

Agreed. I’m not sure the ultimate reasoning behind Chamberlain’s decision, but it stinks. The same limitation has been true for Android Auto.

This workaround of using a Garadget dry contact adapter and connecting your garage door to Alarm.com with a Z-Wave or Aladdin Connect controller theoretically should work around the BS, making it available in Alarm.com for CarPlay and in the MyQ app at the same time. It should work for Android Auto as well.

We haven’t tested it ourselves to prove it though.

Chamberlain/Linear/myQ grrrrrrr

I wish there was a way that you could see the status of the alarm system (armed or disarmed) from the car play screen. The Driver taps “Away” in car play, but after that there is no feedback as to if the alarm system is actually armed or not.

The integration is pretty new and I suspect other feature may become available in the future. As for arming status being visible through CarPlay, I could not say.

They are probably weighing security concerns with what you are requested.

I wouldn’t want someone to be able to see if my alarm was disarmed from Carplay or have the ability to disarm it.

Imagine the screen is up, you valet your car. You get out. Valet says you left your phone. You get your phone. But he saw that your house is disarmed or he disarmed it really quick… Next call goes to his crime ring friends and they break into your house.

One solution would be to put a time out selection for the screen. Not like you need to stare at it for that long. Like 10 seconds and to re-view the screen you must enter a pin or face ID.

I cant think of much more I want to do with ADC Carplay than open garage doors and see that.

I know it’s not CarPlay but If it helps anyone, as far as I know, MyQ devices like Chamberlain/Lift Master openers can still be included in Siri shortcuts. I created an Alarm.com scene that locks the door, closes my garage door, and arms my system then I just went under “Discover” in the Alarm.com app and created a Siri shortcut and linked it to the scene I just created. It’s been working for a few years where I just plug my phone into the car, CarPlay pops up, then I just hit the steering wheel button which triggers Siri and say “I’m leaving” and the door locks, garage door closes, and system arms. Then I have a “I’m home” which does all the same things in reverse.
