Z-wave lights - issue on panel, but not app

So, I have a Qolsys IQ4 panel, with 9 Z-wave lights (and several other devices including thermostats).

7 of them work just fine. I can turn them on/off on the panel, and via the app.

But 2 of them will only turn on/off on the app, if I try on the panel, the display gets the swirly updating status for a several minutes and the status does not update (but they turn on the first time.) I can never turn them off via the panel as the status never changes to “on”.

I have verified my panel is configured to support a maximum of 11 Z-wave lights.

Note, This is a recent upgrade from an IQ 2+ where these same lights worked just fine.

Any ideas why?

Which two lights are having the issue? Can you confirm their names in Alarm.com and the model number of those lights?

Have you run a network rediscovery?

Mandoor Light
Porch Light

Both are Jasco ZW4009 / 46202 (aka GE enbrighten). I have 5 of these installed, the other 3 are working fine.

I did run rediscoveries at least twice in the first few days after setting up the panel and observing this issue. I was away for week and back debugging today. I have not run a re-discovery today. I did check their routes and both devices connect directly to the panel. The Porch light is literally the closest device to the panel (< 15’ away).

The Mandoor light is much further away.

Those two lights in particular are reporting in your list on Alarm.com as unknown manufacturer types, the data is incomplete being sent by the panel. This usually indicates that pairing had errors.

To troubleshoot, delete those two lights, wait a few minutes, then relearn them using the steps linked below. Run a network rediscovery and then let me know the devices have been re-added in reply. We can check to make sure they are reporting properly.

I have removed, re-added the devices and did re-discovery of the devices. All of the other are still fine and these two are still misbehaving on the panel (but not via the app). Let me know what you see on your side, thanks.

Those two are still showing as an unknown device in your device list after being relearned.

Do you still have the boxes for those by chance? Anything different at all with their labeling? There may be a different radio version, build version, etc. Those two in particular are not pairing the same as the others. If they are all the same model something is awry in the pairing process on the panel itself.

Can you try rebooting your panel first, then delete and relearn the one labeled Porch? (Settings > Advanced Settings > Reboot Panel)

I rebooted and cleared/paired just the porch switch, no change on my side.

I don’t have the original boxes, but I reviewed the front of the the two switches in the porch/driveway light gang box. Driveway floods is the switch that is blue in the picture and works fine and is definitely the older model, installed at least a year before the the porch light on the left.

They are slightly different versions of the same model. They are ZW4009 devices but with slightly different versions (one listed as just enbrighten, the other as GE; the branding has evolved for the Jasco/GE/enbrighten devices)

I don’t know what the label different is (2232B vs. 1947B) but wonder if it is a firmware release difference.

Here is a screen shot of their front.

There may be a compatibility issue at play considering the different version. Can you remove that porch switch, try a factory reset on it, then relearn?

It looks like factory reset should be:

Quickly press ON (top) button three times then immediately press the OFF (Bottom) button three times.

The LED will flash ON/OFF five times when completed successfully.

I tried to factory reset, but it never blinked as expected. later tried to re-add the device and things seem to have gotten worse (got failed add error during inclusion process & now the panel cannot turn on the device.) I am thinking maybe the device is failing. I am going to be away for a few days, so testing will have to wait.
