My previous account with alarm.com expired and I Switched my services to surety. Now the panel won’t connect to wifi or cellular. Do I need to hard reset my system in order for me to finish the setup process?
You do not need to perform a hard reset in order to get your system connected; however, you will need to perform a cell test.
Steps to perform a cell test can be found here:
If the cell test fails, then it is recommended that you perform a power cycle on the system. The steps to do so can be found here:
I did the steps suggested. When turning the power back on and I try to connect to wifi it constantly spins. It only states “turning WiFi on” but it is always spinning and never turns on.
During the account set up process, you need to run a cell test to connect the panel to service. You dont need wi-fi enabled to run a cellular communications test. Are you able to run a successful Cellular Radio test?
- From the home screen, navigate to Settings > Advanced Settings > System Tests > Cellular test. What is the result?
Afterwards, finish the account creation steps via the System Manager tab of your Surety login.
Once logged in to Alarm.com, finish the set up process Once connected to Alarm.com, set up w-fi on the panel via the method below:
Are you able to get connected?
No I am not that is the issue. The cellular test fails consistently. The WiFi when I click to check it to activate it it only says “turning on WiFi” but it never turns on.
Can you confirm your panel firmware?
You can find this by swiping down from the main page > Settings > Advanced Settings > Code > About > Software > Firmware should be 4.X.X-ADCS please let us know what firmware it is on
If you are running firmware version 4.3.0, it may be something with the firmware not allowing the panel to connect via cellular or Wi-Fi and an update is required. You can try performing the update via access point mode but it may not be possible due to the Wi-Fi card being disabled by the panel.
Yea it’s version 4.3.
Per Qolsys, the Wi-Fi card was deactivated by the panel and you can also have cellular issues with this. It is a bug on firmware 4.3.0.
You can try updating via access point but if that does not work, you will need to factory default the panel. To update using the Access Point:
- If your IQ Panel is running v4.3.0/v4.3.1/v4.3.2 - Download and save the firmware file HERE Do not do this if your panel firmware is less than 4.3.0!
- Go to Settings/Advanced Settings/Upgrade Software then touch “Upgrade Using Access Point”.
- Scan the QR Code with your phone camera or manually connect to the Panel AP with the SSID and Password shown on the screen.
- Press “Start” to begin the local server session, then from your device scan the second QR code or navigate to the “https” site shown on the Panel screen.
- Follow the prompts on your device screen to select the correct files and transfer them to the Panel.
