Swap out a Qolsys panel

Trying to figure out if I can swap out a quolsys alarm panel by myself

Looking at your account, you’re currently using the Surety Automate plan, which is a legacy plan. You will need to reach out to us in order to swap the panel on the account.

Please send us a private message here with the new panel’s IMEI number, and we can get that changed over for you.

I will be buying the IQ 5 hub from you so you will have the IMEI number, correct? Will my new plan still be $6.00 to do the automation only?

We will not have the IMEI beforehand, you will need to supply it to us when ready to swap.

The plan you are enrolled in will not change.

OK, so the panel can be purchased elsewhere? I will probably still order it from you. Email the IMEI before swap or after?

Yes, you can purchase equipment from elsewhere and still use it with a Surety subscription as long as it is compatible.

We’ll need to perform the swap on our end, so you’ll just need to send us the IMEI. We’ll follow up with you once we’ve submitted the module swap.

Do I need to get swap confirmation from you before installing the new panel?

You can install the system and program Z-Wave devices to it before the swap or after. In order for the swap to occur, we just need the IMEI number. Once we have that, we will associate it with your existing Alarm.com account and confirm in reply At that point you will need to run a cellular communications test from the new panel in order to begin communication.

The default codes on the IQ 5 Hub are: Dealer 2222, Installer 1111, Master User 1234

After the panel swap you will want to edit and save any existing User Codes from your Alarm.com account to send them to the panel. This can be done from the Users tab in Alarm.com.

When installing, be sure to use the IQ 5 Hub’s included 12V power supply, do not use the power supply that came with the IQ Panel 2. See page 11 of the installation manual for wiring. See the guide below for more installation information.

Z-Wave devices paired to the old panel will need to be Cleared/Removed before they can be paired to the new panel. Devices can be cleared from either panel. Once all Z-Wave devices have been associated with the new panel, and they are in their final installation locations. you will need to run a Z-Wave Network Rediscovery to ensure correct communication pathways for the Z-Wave network. Steps on how to do this can be found below.
