Surety - Migration from Frontpoint - Pin Transfer

I’m looking at purchasing a new IQ Panel 4 - IQ Panel 4 (319.5 Radio) through Surety and canceling my current FrontPoint Service. I have not under any contract with Frontpoint, so I am free to move my alarm.com service to another provider. I’m currently running on an old GE Interlogix Alarm Panel.

  1. Do I need to get a PIN transfer# from Surety or is that only if I’m migrating an exisiting Alarm Panel to the new Surety/Alarm.com account? If I need a Pin transfer# to give to Frontpoint how do I obtain this?

  2. It sounds like I can migrate my legacy s-line 319.5 Mhz alarm sensors to the new Surety/Alarm.com account before my current Frontpoint account is officially cancelled. From what I’ve read in your forum the only devices I can’t migrate over right away are my alarm.com cameras, Lutron light switches, and Mygarage door controller correct?

  3. Can I migrate my current Z-wave devices before I cancel my alarm.com account with Frontpoint? I have 2 Schlage door locks and 1 Alarm.com Thermostat that I also need to migrate.

Just trying to see how many devices I can migrate to the new IQ 4 Panel/Surety without my current Alarm.com account being cancelled by FrontPoint. I would like to set the new Surety system up in parallel to my current system.

I’m assuming its going to take Frontpoint sometime for them to delete my current alarm.com account? So there will be some delay in moving over my Lutron and Camera devices over to the new account. How long does it usually take before a service provider like Frontpoint will officially cancel my current alarm.com account?

Lastly, do you recommend I use a new username/password different from my Frontpoint alarm.com account to avoid any confusion during the migration to Surety? Trying to make this transition as smooth as possible with switch over to Surety.

Thanks!

Transfer PINs are only relevant for transferring an existing account from one dealer to another in Alarm.com. That wouldn’t be the case here and it is not needed.

You can program in the 319.5Mhz sensors and both panels can listen to them simultaneously.

Cameras, Lutron, and MyQ can only be registered to one Alarm.com account at a time, so you could only add them to your Surety account after they are deleted from the current one or the current account is deleted.

You can delete cameras in Alarm.com under Video > Settings > Video Device Info if you want to move them over prior to cancellation.

Yes, they can only be paired to one panel though. You can clear them and add them to the new panel though without needing to access Z-wave settings on the old panel.

It all depends on that company’s policies. Reach out to your provider to find out if they require advanced notice for cancellation, or any specific process. It is pretty common for some to require 30 days notice, or hold accounts open until the end of a billing period.

You would need to use a unique username. Each Alarm.com account must have a unique username.

You can edit usernames in Alarm.com, so you can change it later after cancellation of your current Alarm.com account though if you want the new one to be the same as your prior account.
