Our Qolsys IQ2 panel is black this morning… I tried holding in the button for 20 seconds, and managed to get a red LED out of it, but nothing more. I disconnected wall power and the battery for 30 minutes and tried again – same behavior. Is there anything more I can try? Is there a normal reboot procedure? What does holding in the button for 20 seconds do? Thanks.
Well, I reseated all connectors inside the unit and maybe that helped… I managed to also upgrade the firmware to 2.8.1. It all just feels so fragile… (At least this time the unit seemed to reboot once cleanly for the firmware upgrade – the last time I rebooted the unit, it took like 30 minutes alternating between a white screen saying “initializing the app” and a black screen saying “qolsys quality of life” like a dozen times, as if it was crashing over and over on boot.)
It’s much more user friendly than the older alarm panels were but some things still feel like they could be made more end user friendly.
Unfortunately, the panel is blank again this morning – with a blinking green LED status indicator… Would anyone know what blinking green means? I can’t find any documentation to that effect in the installation guide. Thanks.
Ahh that doesn’t sound good. Is there any chance it’s being under powered? How long and what gauge is the power wire?
I did a quick search and it looks like several people with similar symptoms had to replace their IQ Panel 2.
I’ve powered it with two different adapters (both rated as 7.0 volts, and I measured them at just under 7.5)… 18 awg about 8 feet for one and 22 awg for the other (I never unrolled it – it is right from Qolsys with a barrel adapter from my spare panel).
I have a spare panel I may replace it with but am dreading reconfiguring everything and clearing all the z-wave devices to forget the old panel… Do you think I can just move the sim (?) card from the old panel to the new one and not have anything else to do on the Surety end? (I bought the spare panel from Surety and the old panel came with the house.)
Thanks. Yes, it seems like (from those other threads) these things may only last a few years, which is unfortunate.
Do you think I can just move the sim (?) card from the old panel to the new one and not have anything else to do on the Surety end?
No, this is not possible and will lock the SIM if tampered.
It looks like you may have already swapped the panel using the tool in our system manager, is that system working for you?
Hi Jason, thanks. Fortunately, the thing did not lock (changing the SIM did not change the IMEI – and I got to learn the difference between IMEI and IMSI this way!) – I restored the SIM card and got the new panel running by updating the IMEI online, and then had to disable wifi before I could get any cellular signal at all (so that bug still exists in 2.8.1 apparently). Boy, was that a pain to reprogram every sensor and ultimately every rule. Might there be an easy way to do this, or is it just like first setup every time you have to replace the panel? I guess I have a spare battery now!
A backup restore process is available for sensors and users, but Z-wave is not included. It requires specific steps and must be done on our end:
Thanks – that probably sounds a bit too “out of the mainline” for me… Hopefully I am good for another three years now…
