Problem with Qolsys IQ Panel Display

We have a Qolsys IQ Panel 2+ (319.5MHz Verizon) that we purchased back in 2020. It just started an odd behavior … the screen is constantly scrolling. In normal operation there is an image displayed on the screen … the system disarmed icon, menu icons, a photo, etc. Right now it has that image displayed but it appears to show in the background with a constant scroll from right to left of that same image speeding across the screen over top of the screen display. I can still touch the screen and operate the system but something is definitely wrong. I tried rebooting and that did not change anything … I still have the “overlay” scroll. Is the Qolsys Panel toast or is there something else I should try?

Try fully power cycling the panel. Power it down completely and remove the battery.

  1. Navigate to Settings → Advanced Settings → Power Down
    • Can use either the Dealer, Installer, or Master User Code
  2. Once the panel is off, unplug the Power Supply from the wall outlet.
  3. Open the panel and disconnect the internal battery
  4. Leave the panel completely off for at least 2 minutes
  5. During this time, check to ensure the battery is not bloated/puffy. Also, check to ensure the power cable is firmly connected at the panel and at the power supply itself.
  6. After 2 minutes minimum, plug in the battery followed by the power supply
  7. You may need to hold the button on the side of the panel down for 2-3 seconds to boot up.

Once rebooted, does the issue persist?

When troubleshooting, you may want to place your 24/7 professional monitoring account on Test Mode during troubleshooting to avoid any false dispatches.

You can do this by calling monitoring operators directly at 855-348-0367 or from the Test My System tab in the System Manager section of your Surety account.

I did this steps and it did not fix the issue. To demonstrate the issue, I had to do a small video which cannot be attached here. The video has been sent via email to Vidail via Surety Support Forum.

I got a message that the video size was too large to send. It is a pretty short video so I’m not sure how I can send you an example.

Did you send it via Private Message directly to Vidail? You should be able to email it to support@suretyhome.com. Perhaps zipped if its too large. There are limits to what can be posted here or sent via PM.

Does the issue not show up if you take a photo?

Got the new video via email. Based on that, the panel is likely experiencing hardware failure and needs to be replaced.

Will the IQ Panel 4 be compatible with our current motion sensors, door sensors, & fire alarm?

A 319.5Mhz version of the IQ Panel 4 would support all of your sensors, both 319.5Mhz and PowerG.

Z-wave automation devices would need to be manually programmed into the new panel, however a backup and restore process is available for codes, settings, and alarm sensors.

Sorry … one more question … when I add the IQ Panel to my shopping cart, it also automatically adds a recurring fee for 25.92 which I do not need since we already have the service. Is there a way to remove this charge from the order?

It cant be removed from the purchase but in the order notes field, just make a note that you are replacing your current IQ Panel 2 and we can remove that subscription and apply the complimentary month to your existing account.
