I’m receiving notifications of multiple sensor malfunctions…
Is there any way to determine the cause and how to correct?
Devices reporting a malfunction indicate they cannot communicate with the panel. Steps on how to resolve a malfunction can be found here
Are these sensors wireless, or are they hardwired sensors connected to a hardwire to wireless takeover module?
Has the panel been moved? Or has furniture been moved and/or appliances been introduced to the environment?
These are all wireless and located all throughout the home.
I rebooted the panel but this did not resolve the issues with sensor connectivity.
Have you followed the steps here:
I did. Not very helpful in my case, as 15 sensors all went offline at the same time.
I ended up tampering each sensor and that seemed to correct the issue for now.
It looks like these are PowerG, correct? I have not seen it on a Qolsys panel yet, but in the past I have seen other systems have offline events reported apparently due to quantity of sensors, with some siupervision responses missed intermittently, presumably when multiple are sent simultaneously.
Are all of the sensors that went offline in roughly the same area of the home, or the same direction from the panel’s location?
When you go to the sensor test page on the panel, what do you see for those sensors?
All over the house in all directions and two floors.
After tampering, most have a “strong” signal. Two have “no signal” so I wonder if they will eventually get better. Historically all sensors have had strong signal.
At first I thought perhaps the radio in the panel died.
After tampering, most have a “strong” signal.
That would be expected if the issue was something odd like interference or congestion, if the radio was actually failing I would expect all sensors to report offline within a single supervision interval, and it looks like you have a lot of PowerG sensors that didn’t.
If specific sensors do not resolve, try bringing them closer to the panel, do they report properly? If you put them back in place, does the signal go down again?
Interestingly, the sensors that were tampered are back online with good signal (minus two that malfunctioned again) but now it seems a second (and different) batch of sensors are starting to go offline.
Absolutely nothing environmental has changed. So peculiar. This system has been in place for years with zero issues to speak of.
As a test, bring the sensors closer as described above.
Additionally, run a daughter card test for the PowerG radio. To do so, navigate to Settings > Advanced Settings > enter Dealer/Installer/Master User Code > System Tests > Daughter Card Test. What is the result?
The daughter card test passed. Once tampered, all devices have come back on line with strong signal strength. Moving them closer to the panel doesn’t seem to make a difference.
I’m not sure what to make of all this but will keep an eye on things.
