I have several ceiling fans controlled with the Lutron Caseta Fan Switches. When I integrate my Caseta system to the alarm.com app the fans do not show up, all the lights integrated without issue. I have heard this is a limitation of the Lutron side of the integrations. Has anyone else managed a work around or is my recourse to buy several z-wave fan switches to replace the Lutron ones?
For Lutron integration Lights, Plug in switches, and shades are supported. I don’t believe there is any way to control other Lutron devices through the integration at this time.
Is there a way of suggesting to alarm.com that this be changed. A wall switch for a fan is similar to a wall switch for a light. I would guess that with the existing integration its simply some coding as the Lutron integration allows this with other platforms. I feel it would be a nice feature to include and allow more options for scenes and automations.
Certainly, happy to forward it as a feature request.
Thank You.
Can we revisit this feature request with Alarm.com? It has been over two years since this limitation was originally identified, and Lutron Caséta Fan Controllers still do not appear or function within the Alarm.com application.
Given the growing adoption of smart fan controls and the continued support of these devices within the Lutron ecosystem, we believe it would be beneficial for Alarm.com to re-evaluate support for this device category. Native integration would provide customers with a more complete automation experience, allowing fan controls to be included in scenes, schedules, and automations alongside other supported Lutron devices.
We would appreciate any update on whether this enhancement is being considered for a future release or if there is an existing roadmap for supporting Lutron Caséta Fan Controllers within the Alarm.com platform.
As of November of 2024 this was under review by the product team there at Alarm.com.
I checked with ADC on this again today, and unfortunately it sounds like due to lower demand fan control was not prioritized. I’ve escalated this request again and I’m told they are going to revisit.
Thank you! Please keep me posted.
I agree, this is a simple add should have been available on day one. I reached out to Lutron to see what the issue was as well and was told that “fans do not port to the alarm.com system”. This leads me to believe its intentional.
When apple home, google and others can port the fans in its quite the oversight by alarm.com; especially considering its a paid product and not “free” like many other ecosystems. Hopefully alarm.com resolves this.

May I quote this directly in follow up to Alarm.com? Blunt feedback from users will likely help grease the wheel.
Yes, please do!
