Liftmaster / MyQ Transfer (2025)

I am needing to move my Liftmaster/MyQ opener from my ADT account to Surety account. I have been unable to remove it from my ADT account online or through the app. Even today, in 2025, do I still have to call them to get to remove opener and its associated serial from their system?

We have reached out to Alarm.com many times to have this access given to the end user but unfortunately at this time only the dealer can remove the myQ device from the Alarm.com account.

Once removed, it can be added to the Alarm.com account through Surety. myQ devices can only be added via the Alarm.com website (not the mobile app) by navigating to Settings > Manage devices.

Getting ADT to remove the garage door opener was quite the task.

I called the first time and they mentioned I had to set up a virtual appointment in order to have it removed. Since I wasn’t going to be home, I waited until later in the week to call back.

The second time they said I would have to be at home in front of the panel to enter some info in at the keypad to get it removed - no mention of virtual appointment.

Finally, the third time I called they were able to remove it without needing an appointment or me at the keypad to enter some info.

I wish there was some level of consistency with them but there isn’t. Good thing I have moved on.

I’m glad you were able to get it removed from the other account. Unfortunately, some service providers make it more difficult to remove than others.
