Keep being asked to turn on Push Notifications on Carplay

I use Routines on my iphone to run a command to open my garage door through alarm.com. When it completes it tells me audibly I should enable push notifications. However on the iOS settings and Alarm.com app, it shows the push notifications are enabled and notifications are enabled.

Anywhere else I need to check? Anything I need to do to solve?

To clarify, this is the Siri voice providing a response to the routine running? This is likely a general recommendation for push notification confirmation of the commands, but if you already have push notifications enabled there would be nothing to do.

Does the routine run anything in addition to Alarm.com?

This is for the siri shortcut.

It runs the opening of the garage door.

After it runs its says “please turn on push notifications so you dont miss alerts” every time And all my settings seem to indicate its on

That would likely be relevant to siri announcements, not the Alarm.com app.

Based on a Google search check under Settings for Siri/Apple Intelligence for Announce Notifications. Is the Alarm.com app listed there as an option?

yes, its listed and voice announcement is enabled. I wonder if the latest “enhancement” (you posted about on another thread) for garage doors impacted this. It was working fine for weeks and I haven’t changed anything

Are you referring to this post?

These should not have any impact on Siri voice announcements. Do you have any other shortcuts to perform other actions? Try another non-garage automation. Do you get the same response?

I do not have any other shortcuts with Siri

Yes, that was the post I was referring to.

On anything ADC related, Siri, I show all my notifications are turned on

Can you try the following?

Remove the Shortcut, wait a minute.
Recreate the Shortcut.
Use it once right after creating it.

After that, do you still get any message?

Did not resolve.

I don’t receive the announcement unless connected to carplay. If I do it without being connected to carplay through Siri, its fine. I checked the setting on the actual carplay display on the car and in the settings all settings for announcements are turned on

Any change if you reset your Carplay connection?

Settings > General > CarPlay and tap Forget This Car. Then reconnect the phone to the car.

I really think the problem is on the App ADC end.

This only happens when connected to CarPlay. It only happens when I close my garage door. It does not happen when I give the command to open.

If this were a setting issue, it would happen on both or not on both?

I’m not sure about the specifics when it comes to voice commands, but it could be an issue on ADC’s end.

We’re looking into this and will follow up on Monday once we’ve done some investigating.

We’re still trying to determine exactly what settings normally trigger that message and whether it’s ADC or Siri that determines if it is played or not.

What version of the Alarm.com app are you using? This can be found in the About section of the Alarm.com app.

Do you have critical alerts enabled for Alarm.com?

5.12.0

critical alerts enabled.

Again this only occurs when I open the garage door via Carplay connected with ADC. Its OK if i just use my phone unconnected

I’ve escalated this issue with Alarm.com and I’m waiting to hear back from them with more info.

I’ll follow up here once they get back to me.

Could you please confirm the model of phone you’re using and the iOS version you’re running?

I phone 14 pro. iOS 26

Thank you.

Alarm.com indicated that this issue will require a deeper investigation on their end and has escalated it internally.

We’ll let you know when we receive any updates or follow-up from Alarm.com, but we do not have an ETA or timeline for this as of now.

Update. It’s asking for me to turn on notifications when I open and close the doors. Not just on open. However the fact that it only does it when connected to CarPlay is still true.

Thank you for letting us know.

I’ve provided those new details to Alarm.com for this case.

I haven’t heard anything else from their team regarding this yet, but I will follow up here once I do.
