If you are using a completely new panel with Surety service, you get connected as soon as you would like to.
Keep in mind, any sensors you learn into the new panel, that are connected to the old panel, would trigger at both, provided both systems are powered up.
Z-Wave devices are different and can only be learned into one system at a time.
