I purchased an IQR-PG not too long ago and finally got to pairing it to my IQ Pro. The IQR-PG arrived w/ 4.6.2 on it and the IQ Pro was running 4.3.0n. It paired initially over PG but would err out with “invalid user code” for any screen requiring a code (tried the installer, my master, and the default codes). The arming status light also was not lit. I upgraded my panel to 4.4.1n and that did not resolve the issue. I also tried tag iqpro4.4.2n per recent TSB (which I did not see until after having issues), but that tag is just saying no upgrade available. So I master reset the IQR-PG and repaired it.
Eventually after multiple resets and repairing, one of the times it did download and install the update from the panel, which brought the IQR-PG down to 4.4.1n so that it finally matched the IQ Pro. After that now at least it accepts the correct codes and the arming status light is correct. However, it frequently seems to crash and displays “initializing the app”.
I have two other older IQR-PG’s that arrived with lower firmware initially and they work fine.
UPDATE: I just paired a third older IQR-PG that I moved from my other house and it also works fine so far. The only keypad with the displaying “Initializing the App” over and over again is the one that arrived with 4.6.2 on it originally.
Thank you for providing the detailed information and for trying those troubleshooting steps.
Based on the firmware compatibility bulletin for the IQ Remote PowerG (IQR-PG), units manufactured in June 2026 or later require the IQ Pro to be running firmware 4.4.2n or later before the remote is paired. Your IQ Pro is currently running 4.4.1n, which is below that requirement.
Could you please check the serial number or date code on the IQR-PG’s label or original box to help us confirm whether your unit falls under this requirement?
If you are unsure, please send us a photo of the label so we can help identify.
We will also verify the availability of the required IQ Pro firmware before recommending any further troubleshooting.
Thank you for your patience while we look into this further.
Thank you Brian - the serial number is QWG1A2627V02656.
Unfortunately on my IQ Pro, when I perform an upgrade check with the ‘iqpro4.4.2n’ patch tag it tells me that no upgrade is available. ‘iqpro4.4.1n’ was the highest it would find.
Thanks for the additional information. Could you please provide us the Date Code as well? It can be found on the box or the device label. It is below the Serial Number.
Based on the Date Code, the IQR-PG was manufactured in July 2026, which requires the IQ Pro to be running firmware version 4.4.2n. The firmware has not been released yet, and February or March 2027 is only a tentative timeframe. The actual release date has not been confirmed and may change.
However, they mentioned that a patch was already included in the IQ Pro firmware 4.4.1n to fix this issue but it appears to have the same problem with your case.
We see that your IQR-PG came with firmware 4.6.2 and that you have already tried to pair it with your IQ Pro after you updated the IQ Pro firmware to 4.4.1n.
Since you’ve been trying to update the firmware earlier, may we know which firmware version your new IQR-PG is currently running?
If you have updated you IQR-PG back to firmware 4.6.2 and still having the same issue, please let us know. We will report this case to Qolysis for further investigation.
The IQR-PG shipped with 4.6.2, but did eventually downgrade to 4.4.1n. However, despite it now running 4.4.1n I am still having the problem with it “Initializing the App” over and over. Have master reset, removed power (and battery), and repaired multiple times.
To clarify, this is a known issue with newer IQ Remote PG and the IQ Pro. However, Qolsys states this has been patched out with the fix being added to the existing 4.4.1n firmware update.
If your IQ Pro was already on 4.4.1n previously, you will need to redownload the update on the IQ Pro (through the IQ Installer App) to apply that patch.
To troubleshoot, do the following:
Disconnect that new IQ Remote PG from programming if its paired to the IQ Pro.
Master Reset the IQ Remote PG. This can be done from the IQ Remote via Settings > Advanced Settings > Enter Installer Code > Master Reset
I did the 4.4.1n upgrade after having issues installing the keypad, so that was very recent - just a few days ago (I purchased the keypad a couple months back but just got around to installing it).
However, I did follow the steps you sent anyways. On step 3 the IQ Pro did state that the system was up to date and wouldn’t upgrade with that patch tag. After re-pairing the IQR-PG it still has the same issue.
For what it’s worth, I also timed it, and it is exactly every 60 seconds that it restarts with “Initializing the App”. It takes about 32 seconds to initialize, runs normally for about 28 seconds, and then goes back to “Initializing the App”. And repeats at the same pace every 60 seconds.
