IQ5 Hub - Cannot add new sensor

I have a IQ5 Hub with 319.5 Mhz daughter card. While I’ve done it in the past with difficulty through toggling the tamper sensor through auto learn (could not Add manually), I have recently been unable to add IQ DW Micro-S sensors. The Auto Learn had worked in the past after tapping the tamper button on and off for 20+ minutes.

Thanks.

Have you replaced the batteries in those sensors?

The Micro-S sensors have been discontinued for at least a few years. If the batteries in them have not been replaced recently, it’s possible the batteries have degraded over time and become weak, even if the sensor itself hasn’t been used. I believe that particular sensor takes a CR1632 battery.

I tested the batteries.

I am seeing a great deal of 319 RF sensors paired to the system, so the issue is unlikely to be with the 319 radio itself. Are those sensors working correctly? Do they trigger status as they should?

Are any IQ DW Micro-S sensors already paired to the panel at this time?

I have a number of new Micro-S sensors that are paired, but they also took a long time to auto learn and could not be added manually. I just opened a window with a new sensor and it registered at the panel. I recently tried to auto learn two sensors - one succeeded after a long time of tamper clicking and/or magnet moving (after my email to support), and the second I am assuming is defective because it eventually should up on the panel with the wrong ID (literally after a period of hours).

To narrow this down, a couple of questions:

  1. Is the problem only with learning in new sensors? Or do the paired Micro-S sensors also have issues after they’re added, such as delayed open/close updates, missed activity, or supervision or trouble alerts?
  2. Could you check the RF antenna? Make sure it’s connected and routed correctly inside the wall, not pinched, folded back or bundled up inside the hub. You can follow this guide: Routing an RF Antenna on an IQ Panel 2/ 4 / IQ 4 Hub

I have not noticed any other problem from learning a new sensor; no alerts. I checked the sensor status and all appear correct. The panel is not on a stand or on the wall - it’s flat on a desk with the antenna coming out of the hole.
