Iq4 Panel Migration from ADT to Surety

Hi, I’m on the eve of being free from ADT and they have assured me they will be canceling my alarm.com account with them and releasing my IMEI (we’ll see how that goes)

When I sign up for a Surety account, is there anything I need to do with my panel or will it function as it’s currently set up? Do I need to change any settings on the panel like disarm codes or re-enroll sensors and assign zones?

Hey there, congrats on almost being done with ADT!

You won’t need to change anything on the panel to make the switch. Your sensors (with their zone settings) and Z-Wave devices are programmed in the panel itself, so when ADT terminates their Alarm.com account, none of that gets wiped. Once you connect to your new Surety account, there’s nothing to re-enroll.

What doesn’t carry over is anything that lived in ADT’s Alarm.com account. After activating, you’ll set up your notifications, rules, user access, and emergency contacts in the new account, and add back any cameras or other Wi-Fi devices. Any third party integrations need to be removed from ADT’s account before they can be added to the new one.

A few things to have ready:

  1. Once ADT says it’s done, run your IMEI through our Module Check Tool to confirm it’s actually released: Can I activate my equipment? - Surety Home
  2. You’ll need your Master User Code or Installer Code to run the cell test that connects the panel to service.
  3. If ADT left their own installer or dealer codes on the panel, those can be reset remotely once you’re connected, through System Manager in your Surety account: My Account - Surety Home

So the master user code, the one that we use to disarm the panel, lives on the panel not the alarm.com account? We have our master code, installer and dealer codes.

That is correct.the Master Code, Installer Code, and Dealer Code are a part of panel programming.

You will need one of those codes to run a cellular communications test to connect the panel to service during the account setup process.

While those numbers can be changed through Alarm.com remotely, the panel must be connected to service first before that can be done. You may need one of those codes to run the cell test before being able to connect to service.
