IQ Remote is giving battery errors

Hi, I’m getting low battery errors on my IQ Remote. We have not had any power outages. I’ve tried restarting it a few times and powering it off for a day or more. Still persists. I uploaded the logs a few days back.

This items isn’t more than about 18 months old. I don’t think it should be throwing battery errors. Can you check into it?

Could you share the serial number of the IQ Remote?

Is this the keypad labeled keypad or Master Bedroom Keypad?

Thank you

Master Bedroom Keypad.

Can you also share the serial number of the IQ Remote? This should be located on the back of the device.

I had this issue too! My remote panel is plugged in 24x7 and we had not had any power outages, and yet the battery reported as low and then would charge back up, then be reported as low.
I never did anything and the battery/system normalized and I have not seen it in a few months. Super odd!

Did you purchase the IQ Remote from Surety?

I purchased the remote from another vendor because Surety did not have them in stock at the time of purchase.

Is the IQ Remote up to date? You can update the IQ Remote by swiping down from the top of the screen > Settings > Enter Installer code (default 1111) or dealer code (default 2222) > IQ Remote PG Upgrade.

If it’s up to date or that doesn’t help, then try performing a master reset, then re-add the IQ Remote to the system. Steps to do so can be found here:

Yes. The remote has been up to date.

Can you confirm these remote panel batteries should be lasting a long time?

Yes, 18 months less than the expected lifespan of the battery. Typically, batteries are expected to last 3-5 years, and it is recommended to replace the battery after 5 years.

We’re looking into this to see if there are any additional steps recommended. It’s possible that the battery itself has failed and needs to be replaced, but we want to double-check before you purchase any replacements.

We’ll follow up here tomorrow and let you know.

Is the device connected via Wi-Fi or PowerG?

As a test, fully power down the IQ Remote from the UI. Hold the button down on the side of the panel and power off. Can take 20+ seconds before that menu pops up.

Then, unplug the power supply from the wall outlet, remove the battery cover from the back of the panel and remove the battery. Leave the unit off for 10 minutes.

Check to ensure the power supply cable has not come loose from the power supply and make sure the power supply is the one included with the panel.

Also, check the battery tray for any debris. When powering back on, insert the battery, following the correct polarity. Then plug in the panel power and turn on via the button on the side. If the battery is drained it can take up to 24 hours to fully charge. Does it?

If not, try unplugging and re-plugging the adapter several times, waiting 5 seconds between attempts.

PowerG

I’ll run through your steps.

I have noticed in my attempts that at times the battery reports charged and then less than 24 hours later it’s reporting low. I’ll also check the voltage at the power supply and end of line.

If running on battery only, should last 4 to 6 hours on continuous use but longer when on standby. Wi-Fi can drain battery quicker. However, when connected to AC power you shouldn’t see the battery hitting low charge like that.

Thanks. Pretty sure the logs will show there hasn’t been all that many recent occasions where AC power was lost. It happens, but only briefly. I’ll update the thread when I have had a chance to run through your recent suggestions.
