IQ flood alerts without monitoring notification

How do I properly setup an IQ Flood sensor? I would like to receive an email and/or push notification when the sensor triggers but I don’t want it to contact the monitoring station / police.

Happy to help! If you would like the zone to never trigger a local alarm siren or forward signals to monitoring operators, just be used for notification purposes, you could do that by programming that sensor to use sensor group 25, which is a non-reporting sensor group.

It will still be able to do local chimes when triggered, and you can set up notifications in Alarm.com for sensor activity from that zone.

Programming instructions to set up the sensor as a non-response zone type are found here:

It looks like you may already have a sensor programmed in this way, is that existing water sensor the one you are referencing or are you adding a new one?

If it’s that one, you would just need a notification set up for it.

A guide on creating a new notification is linked below. You could choose a Water alert notification or just Sensor Activity as the type of notification since it is programmed as sensor group 25.

Yes, I have the sensor programmed that way, and I can see when it is triggered in the alarm.com “Activity” tab, but I am not getting any notifications when the sensor is triggered. I get one for tamper, or when the system goes in alarm, but not when a sensor is open. (and, I don’t want one every time a door or window opened).

I am looking at the notification instructions and they seem to not exactly match the current UI in the Alarm.com app (need to press the Gear icon between steps 3 and 4), but I think ultimately my problem was that the alarm.com user interface is confusing. There is a “Create your own >” that seems like it should expand when you tap it, but appeared to do nothing. Actually, three of the items are always expanded and tapping it is adding or removing things below them off screen. So if I tap it and scroll down I can then see “Sensor Activity” which seems to be what I needed. So I think I’m good now, thank you!!

Alarm.com has made a couple changes to displaying the notifications within the app and I agree it can get a bit busy. I’m happy to forward all feedback to ADC as an enhancement request!

Yes, the sensor activity notification should let you choose that Water zone to notify when it activates.
