I agree that it is a documentation error. And since they are/were selling new devices based on that documentation error, the appropriate path should be to make the system work as originally documented, if possible.
It is not possible at this time. The device was designed to use an IS slot and did not promise to do otherwise.
I share the frustration, but complete documentation is unfortunately not common with really any new product releases.
