Garage Door Opener Constant Disabled/Enabled Alerts

Starting today, the garage door opener keeps reporting multiple alerts of the device being disabled/enabled every couple minutes. I had to turn off the notifications because it was getting annoying but I am unsure as to why all these alerts are occurring. I tried removing it but I forgot MyQ garage systems need to be removed by the dealer.

Garage Disabled trouble conditions can be caused by a few things:

This can occur when the device has failed multiple consecutive remote control attempts, has not successfully reported its status, or does not include an LED indicator as per UL requirements.

Usually it is due to the MyQ controller reporting 2 or more consecutive failed openings or closings. It can be due to the safety eye being blocked.

If you would like us to remove the MyQ device so you can reset it and relearn it we can do that, please let me know in reply.

Yes please, if you could go ahead and remove it please

I have sent commands to delete that MyQ device. Allow a couple minutes for this to complete.

Thank you

I did the reset and readded it but it keeps repeatedly giving the enabled and disabled alerts while open. If you check the history it’s been doing it since yesterday and I’m not sure why, nothing has changed.

I have been experiencing the same behavior over the last two or three days. I’ve had my garage door opener on my account for several years without any issues until the last few days.

Unless it’s a glitch going on because it was just all of sudden, for no apparent reason, and in my case, its only while the door is open.

Mine has been rock solid up until the last few days. Mine also experiences these issues with the door in the open position.

Same, it’s been the last 2 days, and did it again this morning

Thanks for the additional feedback, I will reach out and let ADC know we getting multiple reports of the same behavior. I will follow up here with any recommended troubleshooting but I would suspect this is a back end fix, given the description from both of you.

Sounds good, for now I’ll just keep the System Actions Watch notifications paused while further investigation gets done because my phone goes crazy with notifications lol. Hope this has a quick resolution. Thank you

Thanks sir

As a follow up, I may have figured out what’s going on. Due to the sun angle in the afternoon this time of year, and garage door open with the sensor eye facing the sun, I believe the sun is blinding the eye of the sensor, causing this issue.

Well for me it occurs even at night, and I feel if it were the sensor causing the issue, walking pass the sensors would be triggering it as well. Let’s say it is the sensors, the sensors faults the overhead unit to not allow the door the close, I wouldn’t understand why that would be causing the disabled and enabled alerts, but it can be a possibility.

Who knows. Maybe I’m wrong.lol. I’ll keep monitoring and report

Alarm.com followed up after looking at both accounts and has stated that the MyQ devices are genuinely sending that status, that the issue is likely something interrupting the safety eye.

FYI same behavior just a minute ago which is the same or similar time as the last few days. Sun is hitting the eye at this time of day

So every time the safety eye is interrupted, it’s going to send those alerts. It never did it before and I feel it’s kind of annoying

Yup I did a test where I opened the door and blocked the sensor with my hand, I got the disabled, then I removed my hand, I got the enabled alert. So yes, Kevin and Alarm.com are right, it is when the safety is blocked. But my question is, is it an update because it didn’t happen before?
