First time homebuyer

Hello,

I am a first time homebuyer and need guidance like a newbie. I have the IQ panel already from Safe Haven. If I go with $22/mo plan, will I have to purchase windows and door sensors separately? I does not prompt me to buy those when I try to place order. Second question is this is DYI install right? Nobody coming to install everything?

Hello, that’s correct, Surety is a DIY service provider, equipment is shipped to you and you would self-install.

If I go with $22/mo plan, will I have to purchase windows and door sensors separately?

Yes, the monthly plan cost includes cellular communication charges, Alarm.com account and features access, monitoring if included. It does not include equipment.

Sensors are available a la carte in our store. You can use compatible equipment from any source, you are under no obligation to buy equipment from us.

Compatible panels are listed here:

If you already have a panel, you can check the registration status of the panel via its IMEI number here:

I can use IQ Mini sensors instead of POWERG? They are cheaper than PowerG that’s why I am asking.

Likely. The 319.5Mhz version of IQ Panel 2 and IQ Panel 4 have been the most commonly installed, and the IQ sensors are 319.5Mhz.

If you have an IQ Panel with a 319.5Mhz radio, you could use the IQ Mini door/window sensors. You would want to verify the model of panel you have.

What is the model number on the sticker on the back of your panel?

My IQ panel is attached to the wall so I can’t check behind what is written on it :((

Also wanted to ask that is it not possible to create alarm.com account and connect sensors to it just to TEST IT and if it works, I can subscribe to the plan. My concern is if I subscribe to a plan and i mess up DYI installation, how does refund and all that work? DO we get first month trial?

If you have the master code to the panel, you can swipe down from the main screen > Settings > Advanced Settings > Enter Master Code > About > Cellular > The IMEI will display there

Do you have an IQ Panel 2 or an IQ Panel 4? If you have an IQ Panel 2, you can remove it from the wall by pressing the two buttons located on the bottom of the panel and pull away from the wall. The panel should pop off. The daughtercards on the back should display the frequency your panel can use. 319.5Mhz are the IQ Sensors.

To mount back, you clip the bottom part of the panel until you hear both buttons click into place and then pinch across the top of the panel to get it back on the base. There should be about 4 clicks there.

First month would need to be paid upfront and if you decide to cancel, any unused time can be refunded.

How long does it take to activate account though? Like if i place order at 10am morning, am i ready to go in next few hours if i have equipment ready with me handy

Activation is a step by step process on our website after you purchase service. It can be done at any time 24/7. If you have a compatible system with an unregistered IMEI activation can take as little as 5-10 minutes.
