The Ecolink GDZW7-ECO and later model GDZW7-LR originally worked with MyQ security+ 2.0 when it was released in 2011. It worked fine for years and then they started seeing issues with it.
What we have found is that if the garage door motor is produced from 2011-2021 to be very high, 2021-2022 to also be high, but with 2023 production and later is where the success rate is varying.
It seems like an update was made to the protocol that Ecolink hasn’t been able to reverse engineer.
If you have a newer MyQ opener then getting it to work with the GDZW7-LR is hit or miss. That’s why we started recommending the Garadget adapter as a workaround. The Garadget adapter is an actual MyQ wall button and they solder wires to the physical button terminals. So it doesn’t have any compatibility issues.
