Curtain PIR Motion Detector Undetectable

I have an IQ2+ panel in my business and several curtain pir motion detectors. One of them is stated as undetectable. I replace the battery. The light on the unit only comes on when I press and hold the internal button next to the battery for several seconds. It still is listed as undetectable by the panel. I’ve tried restarting the panel but it’s still listed as undetectable.

Would it be best to unpair the motion detector from the panel, delete the motion detector from the panel, restart the panel, then try to add the motion detector again? If yes, how do I unpair the detector from the panel from the device itself?

If yes, how do I unpair the detector from the panel from the device itself?

Yes, I would recommend deleting that PowerG detector and relearning it.

On the panel, Settings > Advanced Settings > installer code > Installation > Devices > Security Sensors > Delete Sensor.

Relearn the detector, wait a few minutes, then tamper the detector. Does the panel report it being tampered?

Nope. The IQ2+ continues to say “Not Networked”. I even pulled the battery from the motion detector for a minute, then reinserted it. I know the battery works because the sensor light turns on when it detects motion. I let it marinade for a few minutes, then took the cover off, but it still says the motion detector name with the (!) next to it on the IQ2! Home page

Not Networked is a normal status for PowerG devices when first added, but it should resolve quickly after a tamper usually. Double check that TXID that it matches the programmed value.

I would then recommend deleting the sensor, then upgrading your firmware to the latest 2.8.1 before trying one more time. Use the Patch Tag and instructions in the link below.

I tried that but it didn’t work. I might try to take it down from the wall and bring it closer to the control unit to see if proximity helps for establishing the network connection. If that doesn’t work I’ll take it home and try to connect it there (I have the same control unit at home. I’ll get back to you with the results.

Btw I’ve also noticed after a while the light on the sensor stops turning on when someone walks past it. It seems like the sensor turns itself off if it doesn’t connect to a control unit after a particular period of time.

Any time you tamper the device and restore the tamper it puts the device into placement test mode. For 15 minutes it will flash its LED on movement to indicate signal strength.

Here is a link to the manual.

Does moving the device closer have any impact on what you are seeing?
