Current Garage Door options

I see a few older posts talking about products but not all are listed for sale. What are the current options here or that can work with the panels?

I have three single door garage doors. I’m looking to know if they’re open or not. I have tilt sensors for my current security system.

thanks!

A list of compatible garage door automation options can be found at the link below:

Z-wave options communicate through the alarm panel Z-wave network. MyQ, Aladdin Connect, OHD options are back end integrations that communicate via your internet.

If you only want to know whether your garage doors open, tilt sensors for the alarm panel accomplish that. Which control panel do you have, or plan to get?

If you want to control the garage doors, I recommend either:

  • Z-Wave controller such as the Ecolink GDZW7-ECO (older model discontinued) or Ecolink GDZW7-LR (new model that’s replacing it)
  • Aladdin Connect by Genie

Z-Wave is locally controlled by your control panel whereas Aladdin Connect is a cloud solution controlled over the internet.

I’m looking at the IQ panel 4. I don’t see any tilt sensors as compatible.

Depends on which IQ Panel 4 is in use.

There is not a PowerG Tilt sensor but there may be a few tilt sensors that work with the legacy communication frequencies (319.5, 345, 433MHz).

Qolsys has an S-Line 319.5MHz QS1131-840 Tilt for example.

The Honeywell 345 Tilt Sensor 5822T is listed as compatible.

We do not carry either but you may be able to find them elsewhere online.

Ok. Thank you for the follow up! I would be buying the IQ Panel 4 from your website/you.

We sell a few different types. Do you know which one you are looking for or rather what sensors you are looking to use?

Typically we recommend the IQP4001 which works with 319.5MHz and PowerG sensors. However, there are other versions available that work with 345MHz (2GIG/Honeywell) or 433MHz (DSC).

If this is a scratch build, the IQ Panel 4 with 319.5MHz would be recommended as you can utilize both S-Line (encrypted) and PowerG (FHSS Encrypted) sensors.

I have a FrontPoint hub and a mix of a few newer sensors and a bunch that are 15+ years old. I’m of the mindset to just replace everything rather than monkey around trying to get old sensors to work. But I do have a lot. I probably have 20 window sensors. 5 door sensors. 6 glass break sensors. Three Fire and one CO2 Sensors. Three garage Tilt sensors. Two keypads. I use Ring cameras and doorbell cameras for the outside of the house. Unlike FrontPoint, I’m assuming I can install and name/rename all of these sensors myself thru the IQ 4 Panel?

Do you have any part numbers for sensors or hub? Sometimes they use 319.5MHz sensors but we would want to confirm prior to.

This chart below covers all sensors that have been tested compatible by Qolsys to work with the IQ Panel 4.

Ring cameras are not compatible with Alarm.com. Those would need to be replaced.

Yes you can!
