I understand it’s not officially supported, but I was wondering if anyone has tried using the ZEN56 controller with an IQ Panel. RGBgenie also has a z-wave RGBW controller but it’s about twice the price.
It would be fantastic to have dimming and color available through the ADC app and not have to use different remotes for each section of strip lighting around our house.
Funny you should ask. I just purchased one to test if/how it would work with an IQ 4 panel. My plan was to do a video on that for my Youtube channel. I should have that testing and video done in about a week or two, so I’ll post back here.
Apologies for the delay, but I finally tested the ZEN56 with the IQ 4 and ADC!
The good news is it works on IQ 4 and Alarm.com, but there are a couple of caveats depending on the light strip use, how the parameters are set, and where you plan to control it (the IQ panel itself, the ADC app/website, or with Automations, etc).
I tested it two ways: in the default single multicolor mode, and with Parameter 16 set to expose individual RGBW endpoints. Both include successfully, and Alarm.com does recognize it as a color device. There’s a washed-out color issue with the 5050 RGBW strip I was using in the default mode, but I found a simple workaround for that too.
Here’s a link to my video showing the bench testing:
I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have questions. I’ll keep this on the bench for a while in case you would like me to test something specific.
