I’m considering Surety for alarm-only, professional monitoring. I’m currently with ADT.
I have a new Vista 20P system that I am getting ready to install as a replacement to my ADT system. I have all of the components set up and working on the bench, except for the communicator. My research points me to the ADC-SEM300-VT-VZ-M for dual path (Verizon LTE and IP) connectivity.
Assuming I’m on the right track, do you sell the ADC-SEM300-VT-VZ-M? If not, does it matter where I buy it? I want to be sure it will work with Surety.
Yes, we sell it. We offer most Alarm.com and Qolsys products. We don’t list them all on the web store to avoid overwhelming people in the more typical case.
It doesn’t matter where you buy it. You can get it from somewhere else and use it with with our monitoring as long as it’s not already connected to an Alarm.com account by another provider.
Wow, fast response, great info, and best price. What more can I ask?
Yes, I have the alpha keypad. After I’ve had a chance read and digest the installation info you linked, I’ll place the order with you for the communicator.
I need a little clarification on a Surety account vs. an Alarm.com account. When I get the SEM and go through the setup process, do I create the Alarm.com account before signing up for the Surety service? Or do I set up the Surety account before installing the SEM, and does that create the Alarm.com account?
My main reason for asking is to coordinate switching from ADT to Surety, and also coordinate physically changing out the system hardware. I’d like to avoid have a lapse in service, but also would rather not pay for two subscriptions at the same time (ADT and Surety/Alarm.com).
First you sign up for a Surety plan, then you follow the instructions to set up your Alarm.com account using System Manager on the Surety website. Sorry about the lack of clarity on the SEM instructions. Here is the set up guide we give people using a Qolsys panel, which is most of our customers.
It’s the same with the SEM except for the parts about installing the hardware. You would replace step 3 of the Qolsys guide (easy installation wizard) with the After Alarm.com account creation run a Zone scan part of the SEM instructions. The main thing in that step is getting the panel to connect to your new Alarm.com account via cellular and sync everything up.
