Are there really ads on the app now???
To clarify, are you referring to the Discover page in the app that highlights available features with Alarm.com?
No, it’s like an ad for insurance or something that has been popping up.
That’s Smart Coverage. It’s a new Alarm.com insurance company that offers discounts on insurance by verifying that you have a working alarm system and certain smart devices in your home or business.
If I understand correctly, you can just hit the X in the upper-right corner of the card and it will go away and not come back you can dismiss it. (see next post)
I will verify this and follow up here.
I did some digging and got more info on how to make the Smart Coverage card go away if you don’t want to see it anymore.
You have to dismiss it twice to make it go away forever. The first time you dismiss it, I’m told it will come back 30 days later. The second time you dismiss it, it will not come back.
How To Dismiss Smart Coverage Suggestion on Android
Tap on the in-app card’s “X” in the upper right corner of the in-app dashboard card, a message will appear, and you can tap that you are not interested and then tap “Submit”.
How To Dismiss Smart Coverage Suggestion on iOS
Tap on the in-app card’s “X” in the upper right corner, and a message will appear. One thing to note is that for iOS users, you need to actually tap on that sentence that says “I’m not interested in this message.” – then you can tap “Submit”.
Thanks. I am sure no one wants to see it. LOL.
If someone wasn’t aware of the insurance and is interested in it they might want to see it.
I am sure that most people do insurance shopping inside of an app with an ad that they never asked for.
Most people don’t do their shopping while driving down the interstate either but that doesn’t stop billboards from working.
47 and I’ve never bought anything from a billboard. Won’t start now.
I swear I’m not trying to be “that” guy. Lol. I’m just sick of ads in paid apps.
Also, I hit the x and it won’t even let me hit the submit button. I can only hit cancel which means the ad will never fkn go away.
I get your frustration. Just to be clear, it’s an Alarm.com company. They’re not selling ad-space to other companies. They’re promoting a new feature, which is pretty common.
Do you have Android or iOS? If it’s iOS they made a point about…
One thing to note is that for iOS users, you need to actually tap on that sentence that says “I’m not interested in this message.” – then you can tap “Submit”.
If you tap that sentence then can you hit Submit?
If not and it really won’t go away, that sounds like a bug and I’ll report it to the right people.
You guys are awesome. Alarm.com. Not so much. I have an iPhone and I cannot hit the submit button.
Ok I’ll let them know. Sorry about that.
