I just purchased a new router . My myqhub is no longer connected to the network. How do I add it back in? Also prior to buying the new router my hub was not communicating properly with my garage door opener how do I reprogram the hub to the garage door opener ?
Happy to help! The steps to reset and connect a MyQ hub to wifi are shown in detail here. The page also goes over connecting the doors to the hub.
I thought when I set this up a couple of years ago I couldn’t register through the app . I am trying to register it through the app now and it wont allow me to connect to my network
Yes, apologies, it looks like that page is specific to the MyQ app now. Most of the steps are still the same except not using the app.
You can directly access the overhead in a mobile browser by connecting to its access point after it is reset.
Press and hold the gear button until you see a flashing blue light, then release. Press and hold the gear button a second time, until the hub beeps. This will reset the Smart Garage Hub. Unplug and replug-in the hub.
Locate the list of available Wi-Fi networks and select the MyQ-nnn network. The nnn in the Wi-Fi name is the last three digits of the hub’s serial number. Once the phone is connected to the MyQ-nnn network, the blue light on the 821LM goes from blinking blue to a solid blue LED
Open a web browser on the device and enter setup.myqdevice.com into the address bar.
Follow the steps on the MyQ® Wi-Fi Setup page to complete the setup. The user’s Wi-Fi name and password for their network are required during setup.
When prompted, do not install the MyQ® Garage app.
The LED light on the hub goes solid green once it establishes a Wi-Fi connection.
After that, log into the Alarm.com website and navigate to Settings > Devices > Automation Devices. At the bottom there will be a link to Add a Liftmaster Device. You can then relearn your Gateway serial and follow the steps in ADC to add doors.
Now that I have tried to add it through the myq app it doesn’t seem to be working through my browser. I believe it will have to be deleted from my account and re-added ?
Yes, that is correct the hub would need to be deleted from MyQ. Though you may already have it connected to Wifi then and would only need to delete it from your MyQ account, then add it to Alarm.com via the last steps:
log into the Alarm.com website and navigate to Settings > Devices > Automation Devices. At the bottom there will be a link to Add a Liftmaster Device. You can then relearn your Gateway serial and follow the steps in ADC to add doors.
Do I have the ability to delete from adc or do you have to do it ? I need to delete the hub from adc and re add as something went wrong during the installation and it is not operating properly. I would just like to start from the beginning in adc
We have to delete them. I’d be happy to delete your MyQ devices for you but it looks like they were deleted earlier today at 11:31 am ET and then reinstalled this evening. Just to be sure, do you want me to delete them again now?
Yes please
OK they’re deleted.
Ok so i cannot connect myq hub with the way it is done now. If I remember correctly when I originally set this up I connected the garage doors to the hub manually. Do you have instructions on how to do so? It doesn’t seem to work doing it through the adc app.
It looks like the Hub and one of the doors is currently showing up in Alarm.com. Do you have more than one tilt sensor connected to the hub?
Are you able to add this door sensor to the hub through Alarm.com?
To manually program the door sensor:
- Press the Test button on the door sensor. The Yellow LED on the door sensor blinks. If the door sensor is connected to the Wi-Fi Hub, the Wi-Fi Hub beeps once or twice to indicate the slot number the sensor is associated with.
- Press and release BUTTON 1 or 2 on the Wi-Fi hub depending on which slow is to be used. Yellow LED will turn on solid
- Press and release the Test button on the door sensor until the Wi-Fi hub beeps and the light flashes
- The yellow LED on the Wi-Fi hub will turn off
To manually clear the Door Sensor from the hub:
- Press and hold the 1 or 2 button on the Wi-Fi Hub that is connected to the door sensor.
- The Yellow LED on the Wi-Fi Hub turns on, and then turns off. Release the button when the Yellow LED turns off.
There is two sensors but only one should be connected currently. I’m so confused here . This worked fine until a month ago then I had a power outage and it stopped controlling the doors but the hub was still connected. Then I decided to upgrade my router ( I was planning on fixing the door issue at this time)and re program the hub. Which went fine until I connected to ADC to add the hub back in. During this process the hub connected and the tilt sensor was picked up by the hub, however whilst going through the installation the hub opened the wrong door (as I have two car garage) The sensor on that door wasn’t programmed as I was attempting to do one at a time . Now I’m not sure what to do ? What I was referring to in my previous post was the original instructions that came with the hub you were able to manually using the buttons on the hub yourself program each door opener to the hub instead of doing it over the air with ADC. I’m not exactly sure where I should go from here to fix the problem. I found my old instructions to manually program each opener however I can’t seem to get that to work either. Sorry for the long post and thanks in advance for your help
What I was thinking was going off the old instructions I found was to have you remove the hub again. Then I would attempt to manually program each door opener to the hub, then connect the hub to adc and maybe that will work that way ?

That would be a good test to try and eliminate confusion. I think the doors are not being cleared completely from the Hub and that is leading to the confusion and the wrong door opening.
I’ve cleared the hub for you from ADC.
You mentioned you found your original instructions to manually add the doors, right? Just in case, this page looks like it actually goes over this as well in depth. Ignore the part at the top about only trying it after using the MyQ app. The Manual steps are just below. Make sure you know the RF frequency of the existing overhead.
Are these the steps you are following?
Go ahead and try resetting the hub and programming the door manually. Then add the gateway back to Alarm.com. Any luck?
Ok soooooo I finally figured it out after multiple resets and hours of research it was as simple as resetting the garage door opener than unplugging it and plugging it back in . But now I have one door operational from the hub how do I add the second door ?
Ah, so the issue was that the overhead controllers needed reset? Looks like you have this hub learned back into Alarm.com, correct? If that’s the case and it is working, you can simply add a second door through the website.
Go to Settings > Devices > Automation Devices and click the Liftmaster Installation link. Choose non-MyQ device and follow the steps.
Ok so I added the second door. It opens but for some reason it wont close. I didn’t have any problems adding it in but for some reason it wont close. Is there a way to just remove the second garage door so I can re install? Which is labeled garage door left in my system.
Yes, I just sent a command to delete the “Garage Door Left.” The other door and the hub will be unaffected.
To help with troubleshooting though, when you say it won’t close, does the hub start beeping and flashing to signal that door movement will occur, but then the door doesn’t move? Or does the hub not react at all?
The hub reacts. It beeps it just doesn’t activate the opener (to close the door). The odd part is it works to open it but not close it .
