ZWave switch and motion sensor

I have a GE ZW3008, dimmer/motion z wave switch installed in the unfinished portion of the basement, successfully paired to my iq panel 2+. Unfortunately, the configuration of the storage area prevents the motion sensor from ’seeing’ the portion of the room where our home gym is located, so the lights end up timing out while working out.

Question: can I install a compatible security motion sensor in the workout area and 1) have it trip the zwave switch “on” if lights have timed out, in BOTH unarmed and stay armed panel modes, and 2) functions as a security sensor when panel is in armed away mode?

If this would work, what loop/program settings would I use? Thinking of the powerg DSC PG9862, 360 ceiling mount.

Thanks

Yes, you can use a motion detector programmed as a normal security sensor as a trigger for lighting automation.

You would program it normally as a Motion Detector zone, sensor group 17, then set up a sensor activity automation rule in Alarm.com to trigger a Z-wave light based on its activation. You cannot make the rule dependent on other sensors, it would just be a simple trigger and action.
