I purchased a First Alert 2-in-1 Z-Wave Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Alarm, Cert ID: ZC08-13060006. I was able to pair it to my 2GIG panel but it comes up as “unknown” sensor. How do I get it programmed and acknowledged as a smoke detector?
You dont.
2GIG doesnt use zwave sensors for security or life safety. Zwave devices cannot be programmed as sensor zones.
Your best best is to get 345MHz smoke detectors, or use the firefighter module (which is the way to go for 120v local interconnected smoke alarm devices).
Short thread hijack - Riven, still no two in one smoke and CO detectors for 2GIG?

Not that I know of. Unless you find a local interconnected combo unit where the CO alarm is the same cadence as the smoke, and use a firefighter.
was just about to ask this
I need to replace all my detectors as they are past due and a couple aren’t working properly
You are saying the work around is the thirdparty device that listens for an alarm and triggers the 2gig but if you get a CO and a Smoke detector you end up alerting for fire all the time because the third party listening device can’t tell the difference?
The detectors I have are hardwired and interconnected are there any other options for this that I should know about before I purchase new smoke detectors?
Also in general topic… I am seeing Photoelectric and Ionization Sensors and only a handful of them have dual / both sensors.
Anyone have any advice or opinions… Single Family ranch with full basement and attached garage but no hardwire out to the garage… thinking of adding the hardwire out to the garage and using a smoke/co detector out there … smoke co detector in the basement… I don’t know though I will have to get up in the attic and see what I find for the smoke detector wires.

The Firefighter is the audio device mentioned, and yes it uses only one loop and is designed only for use with smoke detectors, not CO.
An option may be to use hardwired Smokes and wireless CO.
Ionization detectors will more quickly alert when a fast moving fire occurs. Slower smoldering fires are better caught by photoelectric detectors. A hardwired Ion/Photo combo is a good option.
