Zooz Titan Water Valve Automation and Operation

Hi,

Notwithstanding the “critical battery low” issue discussed in this thread, I’m wondering if anyone has been successful in creating automations in the Alarm.com app for the Zooz Titan Water Valve? For example, I would like to set up an automation where if the leak detectors trigger that it closes the water shut off valve. I do not see how in the automations either on the app or natively on the panel I can do that. Additionally, how can one just manually trigger the valve to open and close to test if that functions properly? Any suggestions that this esteemed group has is much appreciated. Thanks!

You should be able to activate the valve from the corresponding card in the ADC app or website.

I am not showing any water leak sensors (319.5 or PowerG) associated with the system, but I do show some Z-Wave sensors

Z-Wave sensors (DW, life safety, leak, motion, etc.) are not compatible with Alarm.com. You would need a PowerG or 319.5MHz Leak detector associated with the panel to trigger the automation

Hi Tyler - Thanks for the reply. I think there was a delay in my Alarm.com app because when I posted there was not a valve card present. I do see one now and can manually open and close the valve accordingly. Thanks for confirming.

As for leak sensors (generally speaking), if I understand correctly, if I were to purchase PowerG leak sensors, I could then create an automation in the Alarm.com app to close the water valve when water is detected? But I cannot do that with the Z-wave sensors that I currently have, right?

Thanks again for your support!

Correct, either powerG or 319.5MHz wireless RF sensors could be used for this interaction. Z-Wave sensors cannot be used in this manner through Alarm.com.

Z-Wave devices like Valves, Locks, Lights, TSTATS, Switches, can be used through Alarm.com.

Hi Tyler - Unfortunately the Zooz Titan is too far from the Qolsys IQ Panel 4 in the installed location to receive signal. Do you have any suggestions for a z-wave repeater/extender so that I can hopefully reach the device? Thanks

Most Z-Wave devices that are plugged in to power act as a repeater. Devices that work on battery only (such as locks and TSTATS not learned in on C-Wire) do not repeat signals.

There are devices that act as a repeater only as well. While not an exhaustive list of devices that work with the IQ PAnel 4, the below guide contains devices that have been tested compatible with the panel by Qolsys

Something like the Aeotec Z-Wave Range Extender DSD37-ZWUS could be used, but so could other light switches and plug in modules.

More information on setting up a Z-Wave network can be found below:

Thanks! This is helpful. I’ll take a look into the compatable device list and the Aeotec repeater. Many thanks.
