Hello,
I have an issue with one particular device - the Zooz ZEN30, where I’m experiencing a 30-50 second delay in the zen30 responding to automation rules, but only certain rules in certain circumstances. (Note that I am trying to control the dimmer portion of the ZEN30, not the relay button)
It is similar to this issue in this thread:
In my case, if I have an automation rule that is triggered by a door sensor (where door open turns light on, closed turns light off), the ZEN30 will activate 30-50 seconds after the sensor registers the door is open. It then will turn off the ZEN30 about 5-15 seconds after the door is closed. But here’s the crazy part of this:
The ZEN30 works instantly, and perfectly if:
triggered manually from ADC app or the IQ panel directly
triggered via a scene
triggered via an automation rule that is not based on sensor activity [like triggering based on arm/disarm status, for example]
And, to add to this,
if I take the SAME automation rule and simply remove the ZEN30 and choose another zwave dimmable device, like a ZEN77 or ZEN72, the on/off actions are nearly instantaneous!
If I have multiple lights selected in the rule to turn on, if one of them is a ZEN30, then ALL the lights have the 30-50 sec delay. If I just remove the ZEN30, the rest of the lights turn on instantly.
So it seems to be limited to an issue with the ZEN30.
I’ve repeated this test with both of the ZEN30’s I have installed, and used multiple trigger sensors, etc and the behavior seems to follow the ZEN30. It took me a long time to figure out where the delay was coming from.
Anyway - I post this to see if you have ideas. I think the ZEN30 isn’t officially supported, and there are other ‘bugs’ with the ZEN30 and the IQ Panel (zwave associations from the zen30 to other devices don’t work), so maybe this device is just to be avoided for now until/if it is fully supported?
the ZEN30 will activate 30-50 seconds after the sensor registers the door is open. It then will turn off the ZEN30 about 5-15 seconds after the door is closed.
Is this intermittent, or does behave roughly the same every time?
If I take the SAME automation rule and simply remove the ZEN30 and choose another zwave dimmable device, like a ZEN77 or ZEN72, the on/off actions are nearly instantaneous!
If its limited to the ZEN30, and you do not experience this issue with another Z-Wave switch and the same sensor, then it may be compatibility issue with that specific device.
Qolsys lists no ZOOZ switches as officially tested compatible. Alarm.com only officially lists 3 ZOOZ switches:
Same every time. I lost count of the tests - but I tested at least 20-30 times. Never shorter than 27 seconds. Longest time was minutes - maybe 3 mins?
Understood. Despite that, most Zooz products work almost flawlessly, just odd this one particular product has multiple challenges. Just bringing awareness to see if there were other solutions, if my diagnosis was wrong, or if this could be added to a ‘wish list’ of sorts for the Qolsys folks to consider. Thank you.
Yes - which is interesting, since ADC lists the 32, 34 and 37 as compatible, but Qolsys doesn’t resulting in the constant ‘issue detected’ prompt on the IQ 4 when using the 34 and 37 (I have another thread on this). Qolsys and ADC have a little feature disparity going on which makes for a little bit of a bumpy ride.
