Z-wave notifications

It has been so long that I changed anything!!

I have one light on a zwave switch. When I just turn the light off manually ( e.g. from the wall switch), I get notifications that the device is offline.

Where can I adjust the notifications so I don’t get emails for this event?

I looked on alarm.com notificaitons and didn;t see it.

Thanks’

Hello.
The z-wave switch should not be going offline just because the light is off.

What type of z-wave device is this exactly? the z-wave device needs to have power 100% of the time. If your ‘wall switch’ you mentioned is cutting power to the z-wave device itself, you may need to change your setup so the z-wave device itself always has power.

I don’t think you’d want to disable the device offline notifications (if that is even possible). Offline z-wave devices impact the whole z-wave mesh network and cause other problems… hence why all z-wave devices should be powered on all the time so they can participate in the mesh always. So that notification has importance beyond that one affected device.

It is just a z-wave wall outet plug. I have only a few legacy z-wave devices since I mosly use power g. But the older z-wave outlet plugs are pretty cheap so i use them for non-essential devices.

So a z-wave plug in module similar to this?

Use case is understood. Still, good to have them powered on all the time. Having them on a switch is generally a bad idea, unfortunately.

I’m sure the Surety team can say If there is a way to mute the alert notifications about offline z-wave devices. However, even if you can I’m still not sure I’d recommend killing power to a joined z-wave device it for mesh stability reasons. (Hence the importance of the alert message)

[I’ve helped others with z-wave stability issues and many times it stems from devices offline that they just unplugged without proper removal. Usually it is in January when they unplug all the modules from Christmas lights and just throw in a box without proper removal from the system. Then they notice other device control and performance issues.]

If you need to remove emails as a recipient, you can do so under notifications in Alarm.com under the System Actions to watch notification.

If you need to separate out malfunction notifications from the others, uncheck One of my devices malfunctions, then create a new System Event notification.

Please note that this will affect notifications for all malfunction events, including those for life safety devices, if you have them.

Thanks. Probably just easier to leave them on and use the app to turn them off.
