Z-Wave Light Bulbs

Z-Wave Light bulbs appear to be impossible to find. Is the protocol being discontinued? Or when will Surety have more bulbs in stock?

Alternatively, are therd plans for Qolsys to support other types of devices such as Bluetooth, wifi? After all, the panel has Bluetooth capability.

Thanks!
Mike

Z-wave was hit pretty hard with parts shortages and bulbs hit slow production. I haven’t seen many available bulbs for a while.

I do not have an ETA on the bulb in our store. I think expectation is up in the air at this time.

I don’t know of any plans for wifi or bluetooth device support. On the panel. Lutron RadioRa2, Select, and Caseta are lighting options compatible with Alarm.com.

Generally speaking, if you can swap out a switch instead of the bulb, then use a Z-wave switch. A bulb must be powered 100% of the time to function and accept Z-wave commands to turn on and off.

Thanks for the reply and additional information Jason!

One followup, if you replace a switch and want to be able to have the bulb be dimmed through automation, I assume the switch needs to be a dimmer switch?

Sometimes it is a challenge using a switch in an old building where there is no existing neutral.

Yes, you would need a dimmer switch for that.

And yeah for sure there are situations where it is easier or better suited for bulbs.

There would be options for a dimmer with no neutral though. Here is an Amazon link to the Inovelli Red Series Dimmer. It can be used without a neutral.

Thanks!
