Z-Wave Device Malfunction Issue

Please remove two “open” issues related to the “King” garage door. Those occurred many months ago and never cleared on their own, and I do not find a way for me to clear them myself.

Happy to assist!

The issues should clear once the underlying cause has been resolved. Records indicate that the Garage Tilt Sensor is reporting a malfunction and Tamper.

To best assist, what is the make and model of the device? It appears to to be a Linear GD00Z-4.

The Tamper would indicate that the cover to the Tilt sensor has come loose from its base, is this the case? Has the tilt sensor fallen off the door at all?

Malfunctions, on the other hand, are typically indicative of communication issues. This is often the result of a low battery in the tilt sensor. When was the last time the battery was changed?

The tilt sensor should be attached near the top of the garage door and would look like this.

The cover is firmly attached and the garage door is opening remotely as expected. There’s no issue with the opener or the hardware. What I’m saying is these issues were logged months ago and have never gone away.

The errors in question I do actually see as having shown up just a day after the installation date.

We are requesting updated Z-wave network information, however the issue is not clearing. Unfortunately this isn’t something we can just remove on our end. It needs to come as confirmation from your system. I’m seeing some Z-wave network signal failures and I also see intermittent connectivity listed for the device. The rest of the devices, (all locks) look good.

In fact, at this moment, the Z-wave signaling rating for the Garage is shown as Poor, and the GD00Z itself is listed with a malfunction, which is typically due to Z-wave status commands not reaching the device, or returned to the panel.

Unfortunately there are no repeating Z-wave devices in the network. That would be a good first step to resolving this intermittent communication issue.

AC powered devices like plug in appliance modules or light switches all act as repeaters to strengthen the Z-wave mesh network. Battery operated devices like locks do not.

Based on network diagnostics I am seeing, what is the distance between the Panel and the Linear GD00Z?

To try to force a status through, I would suggest trying to re-link the tilt sensor with the GD00Z, and/or remove and re-learn the GD00Z into the panel.
