Yet another transition from unknown system question

Hello,
I am looking to transition. At our old place I had wireless sensors and an IQ4 Panel and it worked great. However we just bought a place and it looks to have hardwired sensors. How would I go about transitioning over and possible going with a newer panel that would be compatible? There are cameras but I don’t think they are connected to this system :man_shrugging: We would probably also like to add an additional mini panels or whatever they are called. The quick turn on or off ones. I can provide any additional information if needed. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advanced.

If you are working with a wireless panel like the Qolsys IQ Panel 4 and you want to re-use hardwired sensors, you will need a hardwired to wireless takeover module.

The IQ Hardwire PowerG PG9WLSHW8 works with all versions of the IQ Panel 4 that have a powerG radio installed.

There are also hardwired to wireless takeover modules that work with legacy wireless protocols like 319.5MHz and 345MHz.

For the IQ Panel 4 there are a variety of secondary panels that can be used as well.

The newest Qolsys secondary panel, the IQ Remote IQ-PG works on Wi-Fi or PowerG.

The IQ Panel 4 also works with the IQ Remote QW9104-840 which works on Wi-Fi. This secondary panel has been discontinued by the manufacturer.

You can also use the PowerG 2-Way Keypad WS9LCDWF9.

Thank for the reply. For wiring the existing zones onto the new module is it pretty straight forward ?

Yes, zones are transferred over one for one. The IQ Hardwire replaces the entire old panel.

Here is the manual with installation instructions.

Thanks. Just got it all installed except now having a hard time getting it enrolled on the iq4 panel. I hold the enroll button on the hardwire for a bit, it flashes green but then nothing on the iq4 panel. After a while the hardwire goes to flashing red 2 times.

I actually got it enrolled, had to do it manually

Does this panel support the Honeywell 5800PIR-RES motion sensor? I am only seeing a SecurityRF and a SecurityRF-319 option.

Hey @lcasey001 ,

the IQ4 wont unless you have the 345mhz version which it sounds like you have the 319 option.

The standard IQ Panel 4 has a 319.5Mhz radio. There is a 345Mhz version which supports legacy 345Mhz sensors.

How many wireless sensors do you have?

The house we bought looks to have come with (2) 345Mhz motion sensors. Can swap those out no problem. We do plan on maybe getting a handful or what not of door/window sensors.

There are plans to possibly incorporate a couple of “MyQ” garage doors to the system. Or maybe just use the tilt sensors, haven’t really decided yet.

I still have to test the smoke/co detectors to make sure I wired those up properly.

Ok, if there are only a couple wireless sensors it is probably best to just replace those sensors.
