I’ve been having issues with wifi signal on my garage and back porch cams, so I am planning on adding two Xfinity XFi Pods to my network since I use the gateway provided by Xfinity to extend my network coverage. Would using the pods be fine with the Alarm.com cameras?
I have never used Xfi pods, however a search results in instructions that suggest you cannot have a unique 2.4ghz network name, and mesh networks in general can cause issues with cameras due to the router shuffling the device connections between bands and access points.
If the primary goal is to improve connectivity for those two cameras, the first recommendation would be to assign them to a unique 2.4ghz network SSID. This will make sure they are always connected to the 2.4Ghz network. It looks like both are connected to the same SSID but one is reporting 5ghz right now, which means they can shift between the two.
When the camera can shift to 5Ghz its connectivity can abruptly drop due to the comparatively short range of 5Ghz. This can cause intermittent issues.
