I’m very finicky when it comes to exposed wiring. All of my tech devices for the most part have their wires completely concealed. I don’t even want to see a little bit! Is this possible with Alarm.com cameras (interior and exterior), assuming I run wires behind my walls? Or will there still be a small portion exposed? Please give me honest feedback so that I can make an informed decision. Thank you!
With the cameras I have most are able to be concealed at the mounting base directly into a wall, however the one indoor camera I use to monitor my dogs does have a visible wire. Outdoor rated cameras have the wire come out the center of the mounting plate, so if you drill a hole in the sheetrock or the exterior surface of your house wire would not be visible.
It depends on the camera. Many of the newer units the cord comes through the base and would be hidden in the wall if routed that way.
Some of the cameras dont have this so there would be a couple inches of wire or so depending on the unit in use.
Do you have any cameras you are looking at?
Thanks for your reply. For the interior, I am looking at the Indoor AI mini (Indoor AI Camera Mini - Alarm.com ADC-V515 - Surety), and the indoor AI plus (Indoor AI Camera Plus - Alarm.com ADC-V523X - Surety). For exterior, I am considering the Floodlight AI (Floodlight AI Camera - Alarm.com ADC-V729 ADC-V729AC ADC-VC729P - Surety), the Outdoor AI (Outdoor AI Camera - Alarm.com ADC-V724X - Surety), and the Wired AI (Wired Outdoor AI Camera - Alarm.com ADC-VC727P - Surety).
May I ask which indoor camera is it that you are using with the exposed wire, and would it have been possible to conceal it?
My indoor camera is the ADC-V521IR, Its no longer available new. Yes, and no as to if it could be concealed. It’s designed to mount to an interior surface, like a bookshelf, so wire plugs in on back of camera and is exposed. You could hide the power cord but it would still have to stick out of wall to connect to camera.
Outdoor cameras are designed so that the wire is hidden (so the power cable is not exposed, to prevent someone cutting the feed). Wires extends out the base of the mounting bracket.
Exterior looks clean. Nice work.
Thanks
Both of the indoor cameras listed are going to have wires showing when mounted but all of the Outdoor cameras listed are designed to be able to hide the wire.
Do you happen to know which indoor cameras will not have exposed wires?
For what its worth, I don’t mind if the power cord needs to pop out because I can hide that behind a couch. I am just wanting full concealment around the camera area.
Could I use the Outdoor AI cam indoors to achieve full concealment?
Nothing stops you from using an outdoor camera indoors.
