What happens when alarm is triggered in self-monitoring alarm?

OK, so dumb question here. We have a 2Gig control panel and alarm sensors all over the house and I just took it over and subscribed to alarm.com with a self-monitoring plan. My question is, if someone breaks in while the alarm is armed, what happens? Since alarm.com isn’t monitoring it, what will actually happen? Nothing?

The alarms panel itself will sound an alarm, and you will get notifications to your mobile device depending on how you set it up in the Alarm.com account.

Self-monitoring just means there is not a central monitoring station that will respond to the alarm and call you or police, but you will still get Alarm.com notifications.

Yes that is correct. If you are not utilizing Central Station Monitoring then during an alarm event your panel’s siren would activate but no signal would be sent to the monitoring station and therefore no dispatch by your local responding authority.

You would however receive notification through Alarm.com to your phone/tablet if those have been set up.

Should you wish to add 24/7 Central Station Monitoring, please visit the system manager here.
